Rob MacInnis is a photographer that gathered some barnyard animals that had been selected for production and consumption and made a beautiful set of portraits with them.
It all started when he returned from a trip through South America. He took photos of different places with extreme poverty, and it made him rethink the role of photography in society and his life. Rob believed that it was irresponsible to ignore some exploitative aspects of the craft. Taking pictures of animals allow him to review himself as well as the photographic field.
He says working with animals is not much different from working with humans. Rob also spoke about how trust is needed to create the perfect picture.
He has worked with several helpful, patient and trusting farmers to create beautiful portraits. The shots take a lot of time because the animals may not be settled and he has to calm them and gain their trust again.
