Former Coal Miner Captures Astonishing Photos of Waves

Australian photographer Ryan Collins had his first experience with photography in 2007 while working at a local coal mine. He grabbed a camera and started snapping photos of his friend during his surfing sessions, but his attention was quickly grabbed by something else. While watching his friend surf, Ryan noticed the captivating beauty of ocean waves.

“The Ocean has been the one single constant in my life,” he said about his fascination with water. “At any stage of life, at any time, during any emotion—it is there for me.”

Since then, he made a transition from a coal miner to becoming a fine art photographer who released three books of his photographs so far, all of which were warmly received by photography enthusiasts.
