Before he became a street photographer, Omar Z. Robles had a brief career as a mime. This proved to be crucial in his later work, as it inspired him to create an intriguing series of photographs of ballet dancers performing routines on the streets of New York.
Thanks to his mimic background, Robles was able to help dancers tell a story using their bodies, which he then captured on camera. The results are stunning photographs which caught the attention of social media users who can’t wait for him to tell his next story.
“Ballet dancers make us feel as if their movements were truly effortless.” – Robles tells Huffington Post. “This while pushing their bodies to the very extreme of what is humanly possible. It is that grace and elegance which mesmerizes us.”
