Architect Marc Fornes and his studio, TheVeryMany, have been innovating ultra-thin lightweight structures, pavilions, public artworks that provide otherworldly experience for its visitors for ten years now.

Their latest artwork, titled Boolean Operator (named after the search function used to connect and define the relationship between your search terms), was installed at Jinji Lake Biennale in Suzhou, China. It was crafted from white aluminum with holes that span the spherical structure allowing light to pour in from each direction. This is one of their largest interior environments so far.

โ€œits continuous surface grows from a network of columns that peel open into the enclosing shell ๐Ÿš making for a volume with surprising depth >>> 49 feet from one end to the other,โ€ Fornes wrote on Instagram, describing their newest pride.

โ€œtopologically, there is no clear separation between envelope and supports, but the two are made from a unified skin that self-structures throughout โ›“ at this opening, a porthole between interior and outside worlds, you can perceive the thinness of that structural skin,โ€ he added.

The project encourages visitors to explore, discover and play around the outdoor pavilion. Check out below.
