]]> Sriracha is one of the most iconic hot sauces in the world, being incorporated into numerous dishes while also being used as a dip. Still, most of the people that consume it know little about its origins or the way it’s made. Well, let’s do something about it, shall we?

While Sriracha originated in Thailand in the 1930s, the sauce gained worldwide recognition thanks to Huy Fong Foods and its owner David Tran. Tran, who immigrated to the United States from Vietnam, developed his own Sriracha recipe and started manufacturing it in the 1980s. At first, the sauce was supplied to local Asian restaurants in Los Angeles, but thanks to word of mouth, the sales of Huy Fong Foods’s Sriracha steadily increased to the point that the demand outpaced supply in 2013.

While Huy Fong Foods rarely engages in media promotions, the company recently allowed INSIDER to have an exclusive sneak peek into their factory and revealed how Sriracha is made. If you also want to find out what it takes to get this legendary sauce to your kitchen, check out the video below.
