Tim Raymond from Seoul, South Korea, is a teacher who writes fiction in the mornings and makes comics in the evenings. He also suffers from anxiety, depression and “some other things” which he incorporates into his minimalistic comics.

“I’ve been making and posting comics about my mental health struggles for a few years now, but they have always been three-panel, text-post strips without visuals,” the teacher shared on Bored Panda. “I’ve just never been able to draw. A few months ago, however, I started drawing anyway, just pen on paper, and have since made daily comics about everything from indecisiveness to issues with body-image.”

In his work, Raymond also includes topics such as perfectionism, insomnia, paranoia, and much more. He shares his creations on his Instagram account called I Am Sitting, where he has attracted over 40 thousand followers.

“I post a lot on Instagram and people have really responded,” he added. “It’s been so nice. I’m filled with gratitude. I hope I can keep making things that resonate with people and that help them feel less alone.”

It’s a sad truth that the funniest people are often those who carry the greatest sadness inside them. Depression among comedians is not a rare thing and the stigma that still exists around it makes it more difficult to deal with.

Martin Rosner is an artist who recently started his comics project, but his brilliant humor comes from a deep, dark place.

“This whole thing started because I decided to make a comic a day for two months straight,” Martin revealed. “I was severely depressed for two years and failed two colleges but thanks to therapy, meds and a lot of work on myself I’m doing much better. Making these comics to me is like being able to say to my depression, ‘even with you in the way I am still able to make something.’”

“I try to be open about depression, I know it always helps to know that you’re not the only one struggling,” he continued. “Getting it out of my system is a great help. People reacting positively to me sharing my feelings is even better. I feel like I make a tiny connection with others. Just a tiny one but it is there.”

Here are some of our favorite of Martin’s comics:
