]]> Trans World Airlines (TWA) was previously considered as one of USA’s largest airlines. It began operations in 1930 and closed its business in 2001. The Flight Center at New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport also shuttered its doors that same year.

Recently, the TWA Flight Center which was built in 1962 by renowned architect Eero Saarinen, has been repurposed into a luxury hotel. Present-day architecture companies Lubrano Ciavarra, INC., Stonehill Taylor, and
Beyer Blinder Belle wanted to keep the history alive by creating a retro-inspired design.

The lobby, business and event center feature some of the original waiting area look. The common areas and guest rooms are also constructed in retro style with accents of red, which is another nod to TWA.

The TWA Hotel will officially open to the public on May 15, 2019.
