]]>“Under” was designed by the Norwegian firm Snøhetta and it offers can host up to 100 guests. This makes it the biggest underwater restaurant in the world.
“As a new landmark for Southern Norway, ‘Under’ proposes unexpected combinations of pronouns and prepositions, and challenges what determines a person’s physical placement in their environment”, said Kjetil Trædal Thorsen, Snøhetta founder and architect. “In this building, you may find yourself underwater, over the seabed, between land and sea. This will offer you new perspectives and ways of seeing the world, both beyond and beneath the waterline”.
“Under” has two meanings in Norwegian language – it means both ”below” and ”wonder”. With eleven-meter-wide and 3.4-meter-tall horizontal window – this restaurant truly is a wonder. Through this panoramic view, guest should be able to see fish like pollack and cod, but also crabs, lobsters and dogfish.
The building will also be used as a research center for marine life. Take a look at the pictures and see for yourself.
