Giving birth and welcoming a baby into this world is one of the most beautiful things that happens to every parent. It is an emotional roller-coaster where smiles, tears of joy, and other feelings are replacing each other.

Sarah and Derik Beeston have been married for four years now, and recently, they welcomed their baby boy into their life. Although Derik was present during labor and delivery, his reaction while holding his son for the first time was priceless, and fortunately, Sarah captured everything on camera.

He was so shocked that he couldn’t say a word. His face was full of smiles, and he couldn’t believe how cute little Jack was. The video shortly became popular and have received over 55,000 likes on Instagram.

Sarah’s and Derik’s love story began back in 2015, on a midnight hike where they climbed the tallest mountain in Utah. Sarah thinks it was all faith because neither she nor he wanted to go on this adventure. Today, the family lives in Oahu, Hawaii, where they are enjoying every second with their newborn son.

His knife is insanely sharp but it wouldn’t be able to do much if Chef Oiri wasn’t so skilled. On his Instagram page, we see that there are other videos in which he’s showcasing his talent.

The video below shows him slicing thin, virtually transparent ingredients for the sandwich. He starts with bread before moving on to cucumber and tomato. Finally, he starts assembling the sandwich by laying the vegetables and adding an equally thin slice of meat with a tiny amount of butter.

Coronavirus is rapidly spreading in Europe and Italy is currently the most affected country. The whole country is under lockdown and it’s not easy for such an outgoing nation to stay at home, but they’re doing it for the greater good. One of the ways Italians are fighting isolation is singing and playing music together with their neighbors every night at 6 p.m., which is when the news about the new cases from the past 24 hours emerge.

This happens in many cities and the videos of neighbors singing together have flooded Twitter recently and spread all around the internet. You can see one below that was filmed in Sienna.

PBS has released a documentary that shows some fascinating details about octopuses. It’s called Octopus: Making Contact and it’s been created in collaboration with Dr. David Scheel, a professor of marine biology at Alaska Pacific University.

Dr. Scheel kept the octopus from the film in captivity for a long time, closely studying its behavior. That’s why he’s able to explain one of the most fascinating parts from the documentary which you can see below. In the Youtube video below, you can see the octopus changing colors as she sleeps, for which Dr. Scheel says it’s the result of dreaming about hunting.

“So here she’s asleep, she sees a crab and her color starts to change a little bit. Then she turns all dark. Octopuses will do that when they leave the bottom. This is a camouflage, like she’s just subdued a crab and now she’s going to sit there and eat it and she doesn’t want anyone to notice her,” Laughing Squid quoted the professor.

You can see the full film here.

One musician wanted to pay tribute to the show by turning its famous theme song into a ‘90-style heavy metal ballad.

His name is Chase Holfelder and he has over half a million Youtube subscribers. “I’m the guy who creates minor key covers of major key songs. Taylor Swift once tweeted about me. Please subscribe,” he writes in the about section of his Youtube channel.

“In light of the terrible news that Friends will soon be leaving Netflix, I made a sad, minor-key version of the theme song,” Holfelder wrote next to the video.

Are you annoyed when you see people using slang and abbreviations in online communication? They may not follow the standard grammatical rules, but the world of online communication has its own set of standards that are pretty universal, i.e. commonly understood by a majority of users.

Below is the video posted by Tom Scott, in which you will learn why it’s completely fine to abandon the rules we learned in school and embrace the new trends, especially when it comes to casual communication. He gives a great example of how different our written communication sounds when we’re writing a business email vs. when we’re chatting with a friend.

Where do you stand on this matter? Do you type however it’s convenient, do you follow unwritten online rules, or do you still prefer the traditional grammatical rules?

Canada-based woodworker John Heinz of I Build It decided to make a wooden replica of the Great Pyramid of Giza and try to understand the structural engineering behind this huge monument.

Heinz used small pieces of wood and pretended they were made of stone in order to understand how these famous pyramids were built. As he admitted, nobody really knows this and he’s definitely not the first one to try and solve the mystery.

“What follows is the building method that I think was used to construct these massive stone structures,” he says. “Of course, no one can say for certain exactly how it was done since there aren’t any verified writings from that time that describe the actual construction process.”
