Taipei-based arts studio Whyixd created a new LED installations that visualize the various phases of the moon. The work called #defineMoon_, provides a different visual experience depending on the angle. It was installed on the campus of National Chiao Tung University in Hsinchu, Taiwan. With the use of motors, the LED lights revolve to create each shape, making the satellite-shaped structures appears like it’s in motion.

The name #defineMoon_ is based on the computer directive “#define.” The underscore indicates a part of incomplete code, asking viewers to form their own interpretation of how the moon installation serves as an artistic influence.
