]]>With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Queen’s University, a Graduate Degree in Art Therapy from the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute as well an Arts Education Degree from the University of British Columbia, Finlayson primarily works with acrylic and gouache.
Originally from Vancouver, B.C., Finlayson is now based in San Francisco, where she formed her brand Painted Mary. “Painted Mary is a reflection of myself and my interests,” she told Rare Device Blog. “I’m not sure it’s a brand, but rather an expression of my art and experiences,” she went on to explain.
“I really can’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t interested in painting,” she said. “My mom always kept a huge drawer in the kitchen full of art supplies so after school I would entertain myself at the table drawing and painting until it was time for dinner.”

]]>In her work, the Paris-based graphic artist and painter portrays the special bond that women share. But her modern day women are composed in Renaissance inspired compositions.
“I don’t know if I can describe a signature visual language,” Dal-Pra said in an interview with It’s Nice That, “but most of the time, I’m trying to find the balance between realism and abstraction.”
This balance between realism and abstraction has caught the world’s attention, and amongst Dal-Pra’s clients are giants like Gucci and Rus.
“I love to give life to my painting, that’s why each collaboration is for me the opportunity to make it live differently, on different surfaces for different projects,” said the artist. “I love to confront and bring together my aesthetics with the aesthetics of other entities, that’s partly why I love working with brands with a strong identity.”
