]]>Working primarily with a blue biro BIC pen, Lucbert is known for his blue, often fantastical, landscapes, inhabited by eerie humans and creatures. “I love working on monochrome pictures because they communicate directly the idea they want to express with great visual impact,” he once explained in an interview with Jung Katz. “Decorative and superficial elements become less important then.” It also means that his art tools are kept to a bare minimum. “I like the idea of expressing the most with the humblest implement,” notes Lucbert.
Having studied in the National School of Decorative Arts of Paris, Lucbert is currently based between Berlin and Paris. A member of an artist collective, The Ensaders, he participates regularly in performances and exhibitions and leads drawing workshops. But his work has also attracted commercial clients, with collaborations that include brands like The New York Times, Hermès, and Starbucks.
“Art creates a distancing effect that allows the artist to express his own ideas to an audience in a peaceful manner,” says Lucbert. The color blue adds to this overall sense of peacefulness.

]]>Her minimalistic style invites the viewer to engage with her artworks, filling in the absences rather than just dismissing the work and moving on. It’s this distinctive style that has brought her an abundance of commercial clients and individuals. Meanwhile, her more personal work can be found on her Instagram page as well as showcased at galleries and art events across London.
Based in London, Hussain’s artistic passion sparked early on, and she recalls spending hours sketching on the counter in her dad’s corner shop. But according to her biography, it was only since the birth of her first child that she decided to take her hobby more seriously. And so, she picked up the pencil once again, reclaiming her own identity amid the emotional blurrings of motherhood.
Her sources of inspiration vary and include anything from the patterns of home interiors to the natural shapes of the outdoors and the geometries of architecture. Working in several different media, and most usually at night, she is driven by experimentation, constantly exploring new techniques and searching for the shapes and subjects they express best.

]]>“When you have a kid, a lot of things happen unexpectedly. However, as I started drawing the surprising moments we shared, I didn’t think they would get such a huge positive response,” Lan Shengjie, aka Blue, told Bored Panda.
According to Blue, he oftentimes completes his illustrations as quickly as possible since he’s always taking care of his boy. “I hope that my child can grow up in a safe and healthy environment,” he explained. “I worry about him becoming a hooligan or anything else that can go wrong along the way. That’s why I always try to accompany him as he’s growing up and help him when I can.”
