When it comes to awakening our inner artist, we could all use a little push. Thankfully, Shayda Campbell is here to serve as our guide, teaching art and all things creative on her designated YouTube channel.

“At the heart of my YouTube channel is the idea that making the artifacts of our everyday life, things like cookies, calendars or greeting cards, into things of beauty is an important task,” she writes on her website. “It’s uplifting. First, because the process of creativity is so wonderful, and second because it’s just lovely to be surrounded by lovely things.”

Working from her home in Prince Edward Island she makes art tutorials that are both soothing and inspirational. “I’ve tried my best to make my channel a calm, inspirational space where you can approach the basics of drawing, watercolor painting, journaling, and many other crafts,” she says. “There are so many benefits to everyday creativity, so I hope you’ll grab a paintbrush and join me. Because creativity is play, anyone can do it!”

And you don’t have to be a master of arts and crafts to play along. “I think we have so much to gain by investing in our lives in a creative and artistic way,” says Campbell. “So let’s make our own hand-lettered cards, knit our own hats and bake a gorgeous birthday cake for a loved one. I know we can do it.”

All aboard!

If your child is a picky eater, you must’ve thought about numerous strategies for how to put the food in its mouth. But, Malaysian mother Lee Samantha is an example of how an artistic approach can make everything more fun and effective.

Samantha decided to use her artistic talent to turn her daughter’s meals into the delicious works of art. She sketches designs before making each food artwork. Samantha uses her imagination to connect with her daughter, but in of the most practical ways ever.

She both succeeded to introduce her daughter to various new foods, but as well Samantha succeeded to introduce her daughter to art.

Lee Samantha really shows us that it can be really funny to dedicate yourself to some new and unexplored ways of doing everyday things. Sometimes, we can really get stuck in a traditional way of doing things just because we are taught by others to do so or because we don’t want to waste our time on something that is still not affirmed as a valid way to do something.

Samantha also shows what it means to love something that you do. If we have in mind that every Samantha’s artwork ends up in a stomach, it is clear that Samantha does it because of love for her daughter and also because of her artistic urge to create.

Lisa Lloyd is a multi-talented creative person. She has been working as an animator, music video director and a creative director in the past. Now, she’s focusing on art and manual, computer-free work by creating these awesome paper sculptures of animals, insects and plants.

“I started to create designs out of paper about 6 years ago. I started to make things in my spare time while I worked on graphic design and animation projects. I first made a 2D paper hummingbird. I loved working with the paper and found the whole experience really relaxing, almost like meditating,” Lloyd said.

She’s become better and faster over time, so now it takes her around 5 days for one model. Her inspiration comes from nature as well as design and fashion, so the results is often a mix of both worlds. Enjoy her work below.
