]]> New York-based artist, illustrator, and author Jennifer Orkin Lewis can find inspiration for her work pretty much everywhere. “I may see a story in the newspaper or magazine that interests me. On a walk, I may see some cute little critters or a person that is dressed in a striking way. A garden is always inspiring,” she said in an interview.

Her art is quirky and beautiful. She usually starts with a pencil sketch before diving in with paint. As we can clearly see, adding colors is what she enjoys the most.

I’ve been daily painting in my sketchbook for 6 years and I’m truly exhausted. After months of thinking about this I realized that I need a break from being the one who “has” to do this every day. It has become a burden and I find my work has lost the spontaneity and joy. I’m not going to stop painting by any means, I hoping by releasing the pressure I find that spark again. I’m still going to paint, I could never stop that, and of course I have client work.I’ll still be sharing what I’m doing, personal work and professional work. It’s such a relief to just write this. I want to thank everyone of you, some who’ve been along for the whole ride, for all your encouragement and support. (I’ll still be back in some way or another but not with the label as a daily painter. ❤❤❤ have the best weekend. #gouachepaint #jennifernelsonartists
