]]>Rogers’ paintings are all set in the world he calls The Southwestern Bellows. It is a world full of quirky characters, monsters, magic, and even aliens.
The artist describes this world as similar to a fantasy set in Medieval Europe with elements of folklore with a distinction that it takes place in Early America “with magical elements inspired by UFOlogy, cryptozoology, the occult, and the paranormal, which I feel is the modern folklore of our time.”
“I have a pretty clear picture of this place in my mind, but every time I make up a new story for a painting or a series of paintings, I learn a little more about this place, and the sense of discovery powers my drive to continue returning to this world,” Rogers explains.
Rogers has previously exhibited his works in art galleries around the world. However, the artist recently decided to fully focus on showcasing his paintings on his official social media and make them available for purchase through his website. Check out more of them below.

]]>Growing up, Merriam’s home was the epitome of innovation and creativity. “Our house was full of a variety of musical instruments,” he relays in his bio, posted on his personal website. “We often sat around the kitchen table and sketched on paper bags until they were covered inside and out with pictures of anything we could imagine,” he adds. “Hours were spent in my father’s woodworking shop, carving toy boats and other fun things to play with.”
With music, woodshop carving, and illustrating all parts of his childhood scenery, a passion for art was only a matter of time. At only 15, Merriam entered the Bridgton Art Show and won first place in the student category. This was also where he was introduced to artist Alan Magee. “I was amazed by his technique — such great realism, done so simply,” writes Merriam. “I have never been able to match his skills, but I have instead cultivated merits of my own.”
Following his heart and with Magee for inspiration, Merriam would go on to master the art of painting. “There were times when I felt like giving up, but eventually I turned things around by perfecting my artistic talent,” he writes. Good thing he carried on!

]]>Enter Siam James, a freelance illustrator born in Hong-Kong, now residing in Oxford, UK. She mostly uses digital tools to create images that are practically dripping with charm, and sometimes actual magic.

Interestingly, James is a trained archaeologist who specializes in early medieval times. We suspect her academic background is one reason why her creations are so multi-layered and effective.
