In light of the pandemic, Matthews recently put together aĀ NYC Outdoor Dining GuideĀ that lists all the places that are open for business. āMy account is all about showing you the latest and greatest in New York,ā she toldĀ Just Opened New York, āitās my duty to be your loyal, trustworthy guide.”
One of her favorite restaurant in New York is LāArtusi. āItās super cozy, with dim lighting that makes it really romantic,” she relayed. “Itās trendy but unpretentious, with great food and serviceāit really ticks all the boxes. If you go, I recommend the bucatini pastaāitās the best.ā

]]>Born in New York, she grew up with her illustrator father in a fish market, but escaped to attend the Rhode Island School of Design, later returning to NYC to study illustration at the School of Visual Arts.
Now a renowned illustrator in her own right, Avillez’s pen drawings have been featured by the best of the best, including publications like Penguin, Random House, Harper Collins, and The New Yorker.
And for good reason. Her black and white illustrations are endearing in their simplicity, calling to mind old caricatures and children’s books. āFor my dad drawing was a spark that came out of nowhere, for me it bloomed because of him,ā concluded the artist.

]]>Using a brick-sized stencil, Pejac formed Fossil – a pixelated tree painted on a brick wall.
“Taking a sturdy structure and familiar urban element as a base, Fossil is proposing a hypothetical fatal future in which the only memory of nature is the fossilized appearance of a tree on a brick wall. Opposing the first work, Inner Strength is an empowering piece portraying another hypothetical future in which nature breaks the barriers imposed by the hand of man, recovering the lost ground along the way,” the artist describes his work. ]]>This LA-based artist finds inspiration in Greek mythology. In a recent interview, he said:
“The characters are symbolic of the kinds of thoughts that lie under the surface of peopleās minds, and they reveal that the most extraordinary can exist in the most ordinary of everyday settings. This theme is communicated through the juxtaposition of these ostensibly irrational images with otherwise completely mundane scenes. My idea is that my creatures are not original but are ultimately part of a much larger cultural continuum.”
