]]>Buoy is constantly amazing tattoo enthusiasts and social media users with his charming tattoo designs that feature cute and silly animals alongside other goofy characters. Some of his past designs include a frog eating a watermelon, a hedgehog riding a skateboard, and a cat looking at its reflection in a glass of water.
According to Buoy, his love for animals is the biggest source of inspiration for his designs. This is particularly the case with frogs, which are among the most demanded motifs among his clients.
“Basically, I love all kinds of animals, so I tried a lot of different types. For the frog, I love the mindless facial expression, like they have no idea what is going on. And I think a lot of my followers feel the same way!” Buoy told Bored Panda.
Buoy is based in Seoul, South Korea, but thanks to the magic of social media, his tattoos have found admirers from all over the world. Tattoo enthusiasts sometimes come to Seoul just to get inked by Buoy, while the artist himself also travels to foreign countries in order to meet the high demand. For example, he is visiting Australia in April, and all of the slots have already been booked.

]]>“In both fields I am working with a client who wants something very specific, and I need to be able to take their ideas and improve on them in a way that both fulfills their requirements and my own artistic vision,” Wiedemann shared in an interview with Female Tattooers. “Usually, the most difficult part of my job in both fields is frequently being asked to draw something that has been done countless times over and try to make it unique.”
Inspiration for both practices comes from anatomical museums around the world. Wiedemann admits she was especially drawn to the centuries-old wooden cabinets that hold life-sized wax anatomical models in La Specola in Florence, Italy.
Her work, whether on paper or skin, has a gothic edge to it, which is well intended. The overall aesthetic might appeal to illustration lovers and emo kids alike. The main themes include insects, skulls, the human body, and mythical beings.
“I am fortunate enough to have two careers that I love, which have ultimately merged together,” says Wiedemann. “I can use tattooing as the medium for my love of scientific imagery. It is such an honor—not only to be taught how to tattoo—but also having the trust of my clients who will wear my art on their bodies for the rest of their lives.”

]]>But oddly enough, her career sort of started by mistake. “I started doing tattoos on an impetus – for an experience or out of boredom or from a feeling and it didn’t really matter how it looked or turned out,” she told Tattoo Life. “It was more about the act and experience. It was free – I didn’t have to ask anyone for anything – It was DIY, it was immediate, and it was fun. I don’t know how to use a machine, this is the only way I know how to tattoo.”
Obsessed with tattoos from a young age, she says she’s always wanted them and would put temporary tattoos all over her body when she was in elementary school. And in a true DIY spirit, her first tattoo was also the first time she practiced tattooing. “It was with my friend Moses at his house and we were listening to Metallica, we gave each other matching dots on our fingers and wrist,” she says.
Her tattoos span from whimsical psychedelia to powerful silhouettes of women. Check them out in the gallery below:

]]>“I like to design tattoos to how I feel with the person when we meet and greet,” said Peyote on an episode of The Tattoo shop. “I just like to make people feel something… it’s just cool to be able to design something that’s part of the person, something that matches their personality,” he added.
With their thick appearance and smooth texture, Peyote’s tattoos are almost like windows into different realities, where fantastical creatures roam outworldly landscapes. Space, technology, and spirituality are also common themes.
“I like to include realism,” said Peyote when asked about his unique style. “I like to include a lot of basic shapes, which reminds me of graphic design….psychedelic stuff.
“I’ve been working a lot with contrast. I feel like contrast is the most important thing in tattooing… don’t be scared to put outlines, don’t be scared to use a lot of black.”

]]>In this project, Bercsenyi decided to ink the life cycle of a rose on the bodies of 70 strangers. He depicted each step of the cycle – from just a small plant to blossoming and eventually dying out – on the skin of different individuals. This way, each of them told a small part of the artist’s unique story.

After coming up with this unique idea, Balazs Bercsenyi created an application form on which more than 600 people responded. Around 100 of them were given the opportunity to participate in the project and were told to choose their own day and time when they would like to be tattooed. But they didn’t know that by setting up the appointment, they also assigned themselves a stage in the life cycle of a rose which was then transferred to their skin.
After tattooing each individual, Bercsenyi took photos which were then used to make a video showing “Life of a Rose.” Check out the video below as well as the story about this amazing project.
