With over 15 years of experience in illustration, hand-drawn type, and graphic design, Liz Harry knows a thing or two. Having worked primarily for the music industry, mainly designing for music-based clients, before running her own design company, and then working as a freelancer, Harry knows the ins and outs of the creative industry.

Based in Liverpool, she now runs a successful Etsy store, where she sells her original merch which includes accessories, greeting cards, and homewares. But it’s her unique enamel pins that first caught our attention. “I’ve been working in the creative industries for many years, but my greeting cards and pin designs are a recent side hustle that gives me a chance to express myself freely without working to brief,” Harry relayed in an interview with the Printed blog.

“I’ve always loved the idea of owning a shop since I was young and surrounding myself with beautiful things!” she adds. “When I started creating my greeting cards I decided to setup an Etsy shop, which has been developing since. Pins and jewelry were a natural progression for me, I’ve always dabbled with jewelry making but never taken it any further until a friend introduced me to a company making enamel pins – The resurgence in enamel pin designs over the last five years hadn’t gone unnoticed by me and I decided to make one!”

Known for her bright and playful designs (that tend to stick to rainbow color palettes), her creations make for good, clean, fun. They also make for good gifts (hint, hint). Here are some of her more quirky enamel pins.

Working full time as a graphic artist and illustrator, her energetic work hasn’t gone unnoticed, attracting global brands and publications alike. “I’m constantly in a different headspace and love to think three steps ahead, and usually the next project is the most exciting one,” she told Adobe’s online magazine. “When working with clients, I really like a good brief, but I also love to come up with new stuff and usually do a bunch of explorations using the tools and colors that I feel work best or will help that specific brand communicate better.”

But though her work is bold, she describes her real-life personality as “very chill.” “It probably has to do with the fact that I get bored easily and love to experiment, and I find art to be the perfect way of expressing myself,” admits Robescu.

Indeed, growing up in a family of artists, art was always regarded by Robescu as a means of self-expression. By the age of 12, she had her first group exhibition, so it comes as no surprise that by the time she became a grown-up, she spoke fluently in both languages of art and graphic design.

Ju Schnee’s art consists of abstract shapes and vibrant colors, be it her illustrations and murals or her GIFs and animation. “I am in love with shapes, colors, and textures,” she told Ballpitmag. “Whether it’s an animation, a mural or an installation. I incorporate my shapes in every piece of my work. For me, it’s magical to tell a story just with abstract elements and special textures.”

Inspired by surreal artists such as Ernst, Magritte, and Miro, Schnee says such artists have taught her the ways in which to incorporate irony and metaphors into her work. “Bauhaus, Memphis, Japanese Graphic Design and Surrealism were the most formative movements for my work,” she says. Perhaps so, but we also sense some heavy ’80s vibes poking through.

Since graduating with both a BA and an MA in Communication Design, Schnee has been hard at work, collaborating with brands like Adidas and Nike, as well as publications like The Washington Post. “With my art, I hope I can reach a lot of people and move something in them,” she says. “I want them to take a moment and think and maybe also rethink. And that I want to achieve in a playful and fun way that should not be dry and boring to experience.”

Her art in all its rich variety provides such playful experience. Take a look for yourself.

Alice Isaac likes to mix things up. Describing herself as an image-maker and animator, she creates delightful images which are a blend of collage work, illustration, and animation. Her messy creations rely heavily on her background within the worlds of fashion, editorial, illustration, and animation – which means the end result (albeit messy) is well-intended.

“I always say my style was kind of born out of necessity,” Isaac relayed in an interview with Inky Goodness. “When I first took the leap away from production I had minimal skills, I was ok at Photoshop, I could open After Effects. But technically I was a total beginner. My style is pretty low fi because my skills were pretty low fi, collage is also a great medium to work with if you can’t draw that well!”

It’s her unique approach to image-making which has caught the attention of top brands such as Reebok, Nike, Prada, and Adidas. Each job demands a different approach. Sometimes her work includes hand-making collages, while other times her work is completely digital. But more often than not – its a mash-up of the two approaches.

“I don’t feel like I really have a consistent process, everything I work on is so different,” she admitted. “The only thing that I really try to do for every job is research and mood boarding – although this is entirely dependant on how much time I have,  the depth of that research can be a very quick hour to a week’s worth of prep.”

If there was such thing as being color sick, we’re pretty sure it would result in something like Alycia Rainaud’s digital art. The graphic designer explores life’s many complexities through daily abstractions that are eye-popping, to say the least.

Titled as the Malavida project, Rainaud’s art is inspired by Jungian therapy and creative exercises and aims to raise emotional intelligence and mental health sensitivity. “My work always has this tangible to digital dynamic,” explained Rainaud in an interview with Ohh Deer.

Talking about the process itself she says: “I usually start by working with a mix of different types of paints, inks, and materials to create a base movement and vibe. In this step, I’m not bothering too much with the colors or displacements to look perfect. The second step is digitalizing the artwork through a scanner or a camera, and then moving on to my favorite part, post-production. This third step is all about movements enhancements and adding all these signature vibrant colors. To achieve this effect, I usually work with algorithms, 3D software such as Cinema 4D and of course Photoshop.”

“Being a graphic designer in the first place, I’ve also always been drawn to abstract and experiments in general,” she added. “As far as I remember, before creating Malavida, I started playing with textures and visual effects for my graphic design projects while I was in school. I truly wanted to, one day, be able to build my own identity, based on the things I like and the way I am as a person. This trippy yet dark vibe has always been a part of my life, so I guess that my style and designs had to convey these aspects, in order to stay as true to myself as possible.
