]]>“I’m sure you can learn a ton from art school,” she relayed in an interview with Jung Katz, “but it depends on what you want to take from art, and where you want to go with it that should determine whether or not it’s for you. For me, I couldn’t imagine being ‘taught’ art. It’s one of the only free things in this world and I’ve personally gained so much from having the artistic process be 100% my own journey, untainted from outside influence.”
But with both her parents being artists, you could argue that she didn’t have much of a choice. “Art is life,” she puts it, simply. “Art is my breath, my escape, my happy place. Art is my own safe haven in a hectic world. It’s where I go to hide from it all, and is also where I go to enjoy it all.”
Judging by her massive online following (that includes more than 345k fans on Instagram), other people are enjoying her paintings just as well. She has also won several awards for it, and her work is kept in both private and public collections worldwide including the MET’s publication collection. It’s also exhibited worldwide, in galleries and museums.

]]>“I hope my drawings can facilitate a deeper understanding of the climate crisis, helping us find meaning and optimism in shifting landscapes,” Forman shared with ArtStar. “I hope they can serve as records of landscapes in flux, documenting the transition, and inspiring our global community to take action for the future.”
Her paintings, made using pastel colors almost exclusively, very much rely on her observations. Traveling to remote regions of the world, Forman collects images and inspiration which she then takes back to Brooklyn.
Her project took her around the globe, and she has even flown with NASA on several Operation IceBridge missions over Antarctica, Greenland, and Arctic Canada. “In all my travels I have never experienced a landscape as epic and pristine as Antarctica,” she says. “I still haven’t found the words to properly convey the majesty and ethereal wonder of that icy continent!”
Exhibited worldwide, her work is also featured in publications like The New York Times, National Geographic, and The Wall Street Journal. Scroll down to see some of her paintings.

]]>But as if painting a picture so minutely that it’s almost impossible to tell apart from a photo isn’t hard enough, Jeong has added another level of difficulty for himself by choosing to give the hyperrealistic treatment to people who never had their picture taken, or some that we’re not even sure ever existed in the first place!
“I try to use as much reference as possible,” he explained his process in an interview to Star2.com. “Photographs are my major reference, but I also use live models and even drawings.”
In one particularly stunning case, Jeong created a magnificent portrait of the legendary Greek poet Homer. Not only are scholars not entirely certain that Homer was a real person, but his only surviving likenesses are statues. How could Jeong create such a lifelike painting out a largely featureless piece of stone?
“Since I could not rely solely on my imagination to come up with the lifelike image of the ancient poet, I found a model who had a similar facial feature with the bust of Homer,” he confided. “And then I combined the image of his real face with the face of the marble bust. The general facial structure was strictly based on the bust.”
The result speaks for itself, and luckily so, as we were left speechless!
