It’s not a secret that being in a long-distance relationship can be pretty challenging. However, if you put in the effort and care about your partner enough, you will manage to see it through and be rewarded with a special bond.

People have different ways to deal with the challenges of long-distance relationships. Some are constantly chatting with their partners, others organize online dates, and then there are people, like the couple behind Choco & Pancake webcomics, who use the experience as an inspiration for creative work.

These two artists, known only as Choco and Pancake, live in two different cities, but that didn’t have a negative effect on their love. Instead, it only strengthened it and led to the creation of a series of relatable comics through which they illustrate how it’s like to be in a long-distance relationship in an amusing and relatable way.

Their works have been met with positive feedback from the social media users, prompting the couple to start thinking about creating an animated series and publishing a comic book. In the meantime, they shared the secret to maintaining a successful long-distance relationship.

“Love, patience, trust, and understanding are the ingredients to hold a relationship and make it last,” the couple reveals.

In 1734, a big fire in the Royal Alcázar castle in Madrid, Spain, destroyed 500 artworks from artists like Titian, El Greco, Raphael, Rubens, and Diego Velázquez. Now, one of those destroyed artworks was recreated thanks to artificial intelligence.

During a recent solo exhibition at Albarrán Bourdais art gallery, artist Fernando Sánchez Castillo presented a recreation of Diego Velázquez’s Expulsion of the Moriscos, one of the paintings that was destroyed in the Royal Alcázar fire. The painting, which depicted expulsions of Maors from Spain in 1609, was recreated through a laborious process that included the use of AI text-to-image software Midjourney.

According to Spanish media outlet El Pais, Castillo first gathered detailed descriptions of the painting from historical records and a copy of a simple sketch of the painting that is currently being held in Madrid’s Prado Museum. He and AI enthusiast Paula García then used the collected data, as well as other paintings on the same subject, to make various recreations of Velázquez’s lost artwork with Midjourney until they got the best result.

“It’s a time-consuming job that requires patience. You move forward, go back, check internet images, then move forward again,” García told El Pais.

Castillo and García say that 80% of their recreation of Velázquez’s “Expulsion of the Moriscos” could be attributed to the artist, with the remaining 20% being AI.

Finding a good apartment in New York City doesn’t come cheap. But as it turns out, even bad apartments are quite costly, as a recent viral video posted by realtor David Okocha shows.

Okocha recently gave his Instagram followers a tour of an apartment in Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood that is in the running for having the “worst layout” he ever seen.

Right off the bat, it becomes obvious that whoever designed the apartment didn’t have comfort in mind. The shower is shockingly close to the front door while also being basically part of the kitchen. To make it worse, it isn’t actually a shower but a small semi-open cubicle with a shower head planted on the wall and a drain on the floor.

Furthermore, the toilet doesn’t have a sink or a light, while the kitchen looks like it was randomly put together in the worst place possible. But that isn’t the best part. Despite everything, the owner still feels comfortable asking for a whopping price of $3,495 per month.

It is safe to say that internet users were shocked by what they’ve seen and made sure to show it in the comments section.

“Jail for everyone involved,” one user commented.

“That price doesn’t leave much leftover for therapy because of the depression you’ll get for living here,” another added.

Julian Frost is a New Zealand-based artist who specializes in animation and illustrations. You might know him for his super entertaining mobile Dumb Ways to Die, on which he served as a director.

Frost is engaged in lots of other projects, including creating kids’ books, but the part of his creative output that we really enjoy are the simple animations he shares on social media.

The artist’s Instagram profile is full of short clips that are created in a simple manner but are so captivating that you can’t take your eyes off them.

For example, one of his animations shows a human-like figure dancing between flying swords. And as many times you see the loop, you are impressed with the elegance of the figure and its ability to avoid the sharp edges.

Another animation shows the amazing versatility of a banana. For example, it can be used as a seesaw, skateboard, bike wheel, and much more.

According to Frost, he approaches his animated videos, which he calls “idiotic zen poetry,” similarly to the way comedians approach one-liner jokes. He believes they are crafted in a way that every line fits perfectly together, and removing just one would ruin the entire joke.

We have seen all sorts of impressive art made using LEGOs. However, the way French artist M’BricK uses these plastic bricks for artistic purposes is quite unique.

M’BricK stacks LEGOs, both horizontally and vertically, on a flat surface to create “paintings”. When looking from a distance, his works look like they have been painted with traditional paints in a unique, almost pixelated style. But observing them closer reveals their complexity.

Every brick, ranging from bigger to smaller pieces and even LEGO figurines, imitates the stroke of a brush, coming together to form images of cars, fashion items like watches and sneakers, logos, and even portraits of celebrities like Michael Jordan, Bruce Springsteen, and Daft Punk.

When finished, these LEGO paintings are then framed and signed like traditional artworks. As such, M’BricK’s works are exhibited in galleries in his native France and have also been popular among art collectors.

“I am a former professional sportsman turned artist who expresses himself mainly through a game that rocked our childhood, and that of several generations, I think each of us, had some in our hands: LEGO,” M’BricK shares on his website, where he also makes his works available for purchase.

We all get forgetful sometimes. We forget car keys, wallet, doctor appointments, and even some people we met a while ago. But actress Jennifer Aniston took forgetfulness to a whole new level by forgetting her Friends co-star David Schwimmer for the sake of a funny new ad from Uber Eats.

The ad, which will air at the upcoming Super Bowl, starts with Aniston receiving a delivery from Uber Eats and contains all sorts of non-food items, including a bouquet of flowers, while on set. When a crew member remarks that she didn’t know you can get all those things on Uber Eats, Aniston shares some wisdom with her.

“Well, you know what they say. In order to remember something, you gotta forget something else. Make a little room,” Aniston says.

Shortly after, David Schwimmer walks up to Aniston and tries to give her a hug. An unfriendly Aniston stops him and asks him: “Have we met?” Apparently, she picked out Schwimmer as “something” to forget in order to make room for other things. Not even Schwimmer reminding her that they have worked together for 10 years helped her to remember.

The ad features all sorts of other situations in which people forget something in order to make room to remember what types of services Uber Eats offers. This includes David and Victoria Beckham forgetting the name of Victoria’s group, Spice Girls, and Usher not remembering that he’s doing the Super Bowl halftime show this year. Check it out below.

Footwear maker Converse is honoring Japan’s traditional Ukiyo-e art with a pair of special All-Star models.

The first model is inspired by Katsushika Hokusai’s “The Great Wave off Kanagawa, “which is arguably the most famous Ukiyo-e piece ever created. It features Hokusai’s masterpiece printed on the inner and outer sides of white All-Star hi-tops.

The second model has motifs from Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s “Takiyasha the Witch and the Skeleton Spectre. “Print of gashadokoro, giant skeleton commonly featured in Japanese folklore, is placed on the outer sides of black All-Star hi-tops.

These unique All-Stars are currently available on the official Japanese website of Converse. They come at a price of around $80.

Ukiyo-e, which featured extensive use of woodblock prints, was particularly popular in Japan from the 17th century through the 19th century. Artists creating Ukiyo-e art covered a wide range of subjects, including depictions of historical events, landscapes, folklore, and scenes from everyday life.

Hokusai’s “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” is part of the artist’s large series titled Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. It was created in 1831 and is often recognized as the greatest artwork in Japanese history. It is estimated that 8,000 copies were originally printed, but only 200 survived to date.

Kuniyoshi created “Takiyasha the Witch and the Skeleton Spectre” between 1843 and 1847. It shows a scene from the Story of Utö Yasutaka, written by poet Santö Kyöden, in which Princess Takiyasha reads a scroll to summon Gashadokuro, hoping it will protect her from monsters.

Jack Soren is a Hawaii-native who combines his passion for surfing with a love for art to create amazing feel-good surfing paintings and murals.

According to his website, Soren spent “most of his life” surfing on the coasts of Hawaii while exploring the ocean and island. At the same time, he was honing his art skills after becoming interested in painting and drawing at a very young age.

Soren’s art beginnings came in graffiti and street art, where he found notable success and became a part of the local art community. It wasn’t long before he decided to embrace art as a full-time job and venture into other types of creative work. He now works as a professional artist, exhibiting his works in galleries, painting murals, and engaging in other projects that offer him an opportunity to express his creativity.

The paintings and murals Soren creates are predominantly inspired by the surf culture and the ocean. While simplistic in nature, they project a calming effect with warm colors and idyllic scenes of people catching waves, dancing on the beach, and having a good time overall.

Stefano Bolcato is an Italian artist who found an intriguing way to combine his passion for famous artworks from the past and his love for LEGO. He reimagines the works of great art masters as LEGO-style paintings.

Bolcato creates his paintings with the oil on canvas technique. He transfers all the recognizable features of famous artwork to his piece but gives them a makeover that you would usually see in LEGO sets. The subjects have all the elements of LEGO figurines, including the characteristic yellow color and brick-like shape.

The list of famous paintings that received Bolcato’s LEGO-makeover includes Caravaggio’s Medusa, Johannes Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, and René Magritte’s The Song of Man.

“I like to explore and imagine figures in portraits as toys, which has never been seen before,” he shared in a recent interview. “It’s a meeting between the classic and contemporary worlds.”

Bolcato’s works, which he refers to as “interesting and funny creative study,” have been quite popular among art enthusiasts. He had the opportunity to exhibit them in various galleries in Italy but also across Europe and the United States.

The artist also regularly updates his social media pages with his newest LEGO paintings. You can visit his Instagram profile or continue scrolling to check out more of them.

It’s always astonishing to see how people change over time. Especially when that change is captured in such a detailed way as YouTuber Jordan Wilson did it.

At the age of 13 years and five months, Wilson started taking a photo of himself every day. He would stay in front of the same background and would keep the same expression on his face.

After 1,000 days of a photo a day, Wilson used the photos to make a timelapse video that showed him getting 1,000 days older. He did it again after five years of starting the project, then after 10 years, and now, after 15 years.

The latest video is understandably the most impressive. It is compiled out of all the photos Wilson took for 15 straight years, starting on December 25, 2007, and ending on December 25, 2022. Watching the 4:27-long clip, you can witness how a 13-year-old boy becomes a 28-year-old man.

Wilson also posted the video on Reddit, where he shared some interesting facts about the project. He revealed that he used two same curtains as his background for the past 15 years. He revealed that the robe seen in some of the photos isn’t a martial arts uniform, but simply a dressing gown.

You can take a look at Soren’s feel-good artworks below.
