Denim hardly ever goes out of fashion, but the way it has been used to make clothes has been constantly evolving. At the forefront of the latest evolution of denim is Los Angeles, California-based artist/ designer Emily Starobrat.
Starobrat creates artisan clothes out of denim through her brand Denem Jeans. Her designs are not only trendy and stylish, but also come adorned with artwork.
Using a die grinder, Starobrat carves all sorts of drawings into denim, including flowers, butterflies, tiger portraits, cars, and more.
“I always loved creating- cooking, painting, anything that I could get my hands dirty. Since discovering the versatility of denim and surface/ textile treatments I have aimed to rethink the denim jean,” Starobrat shares on her website.
Starobrat presents her newest creation on TikTok, where she has more than 37K followers. Aside from presenting finished pieces, the designer also gives social media users insights into her creative process, from tailoring denim to carving the artwork on it.
All of Starobrat’s denim creations are available for purchase through the official Denem Jeans webshop, so make sure to check it out if you like her works. In the meantime, scroll down to check out more of her videos.
