Jeanette Getros’ Art Will Introduce You to the Fashion World

Jeanette Getros’ illustrations embody the spirit of fashion in all it’s vibrancy, vitality, and playfulness. Attracting luxury brands like Chanel, Dior, Esteé Lauder, and Tiffany & Co, she is considered one of the fashion industry’s most sought after illustrators, and for good reason.

But like most renowned illustrators, Getros didn’t start out being famous. In fact, she hadn’t even known fashion illustration was an actual job. “I assumed that you could either be a designer or a model,” she admitted in an interview with Entrepreneur. “I didn’t really understand the industry, so I would just draw clothing a lot.”

It was only after she posted her drawings on Instagram that she started getting noticed. “I wrote in my bio that I was a fashion illustrator, even though I hadn’t been hired at that point as an illustrator,” she said. “Pretty soon after, I started getting inquiries — just for small gigs, illustrations for someone’s website they were launching, things like that.”

And though the years have passed, she still uses Instagram as a platform to promote her work. “If I had to guess, I’d say 85 percent of the inquiries I get probably come from people seeing my Instagram,” she says. Which goes to show that if you want to be recognized as an artist you got to put yourself out there.
