]]>Instead of using precious metals and shiny rocks, Hackenberg opted to make necklaces, earrings, and rings out of “domestic objects.” According to the artist, this helps her explore the “conceptual overlap” that exists between the things we use in everyday life and jewelry.
Hackenberg, who worked as a goldsmith apprentice and has a Master of Arts degree, uses various materials for her unique jewelry. But the pieces that arguably stand out the most are the ones made out of vintage ceramic plates.
Besides being old, these plates are also full of art, various motifs, and decorations, which further contribute to the charm of Hackenberg’s creations.
This talented artist harvests small parts of ceramics from plates by puncturing them. They are then polished and incorporated into the jewelry, while the rest of the plate remains as a solid structure that could be an artwork by itself.
“I like to reinterpret classical genres of art and jewelry history while translating those elements to my own contemporary world,” Hackenberg says about her work.

]]>“It lies within our sewing box full of color and fantasy,” the jeweler shared on her Etsy store. “There you can find a wide range of accessories: jewelry, hair accessories, decor and more. “We love all the process: imagining, doing research and then creating. All the working process is made by us, without no intermediaries.”
In their work, the Spain-based company uses materials such as cast metal, wood, acrylic, and resin. According to Jericó the jewelry that is born in their atelier is dedicated to women who still feel as little girls inside. In one of their projects, Laliblue created a jewelry line with scenes from movies inside.

]]>With a fashion and graphic design background, Julieta Alvarez decided to experiment with ceramics after taking a crash course. “I needed a change and I decided to take a course imparted by Resu Labrador, an artisan that had a workshop near home,” she recalled in an interview with Cup of Couple. “I used to go there full of ideas, and she taught me different techniques to achieve my objectives. Since then, I haven’t stopped!”
Inspired by nature, Julieta Alvarez admits she fell in love with ceramics because of the spontaneity of the material itself, which allows her to craft almost anything. “You can experiment with it, try new things, learn, make jewelry, sculptures or just disconnect from the world and lose track of time,” she explained.
Their unique pieces are available in selected stores around the globe and have also been showcased at galleries and international museums. Check out some of their highlights in the gallery below:

]]>“We design everything with a sense of humor and playfulness in mind,” write Shatz and Scudder on their website. “Our stuff is made to make you feel confident and hot A.F., which is why we’re incredibly selective about the quality of materials we use. Your beauty will never tarnish, and your jewelry should be no different. Gold and silver only, baby!”
“I always think about how the pieces last forever and I want to make some things that are like a stamp of the times that we’re living in right now,” added Shatz in an interview with i-d Magazine. “I’m probably going to pass these down to my kids, if I ever have them. And I want these designs to be sort of representative of my life.”
Every component is sourced in the United States and assembled locally in New York’s jewelry district, with none of the production taking place someplace hidden from their eyes. “We intend to keep it that way regardless of how much the business grows,” they write on their website. A good agenda for a brand that clearly deserves the hype.

]]>Based on small productions and handmade or modeled materials, each piece is truly one of a kind. “With a female perspective on the world, she defends the true nature of things and admires beauty in all of its forms,” reads Castel’s website. And indeed, she pays special attention to the environment and recycles her unused metals.
According to her website, Castel fell in love with jewelry when she was just a small girl. Having later studied art and product design in school, she’s since been hard at work. But she still enjoys traveling when she can, and is inspired by the new cultures and people she meets.

]]>Stylist Dana Roski and Model Joyce Binneboese originally started WALD as a concept boutique in Mitte, Berlin around 2012. After taking a creative break, they decided to open WALD Boutique as an online store, which in turn inspired them to launch their own brand in 2018.
Since their work incorporates shells and corals, they make sure that those aren’t on the protected species list, by working closely alongside German biologists.
Inspired by ’90s nostalgia and trips to the beach, their trendy pieces have been featured in publications like Vogue, Marie Claire, and Elle; and with almost 40k followers on Instagram, it’s clear that WALD isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
