When Marina DeBris moved to Venice, she was struck by the condition of the local beaches.  She has been helping clean up the beaches by collecting trash but realized this was not the solution to the problem.

In 2009, DeBris was inspired to create works of art out of her trash collection. In some of her works, she recreates what looks like a natural object, but instead, it was created completely of washed up trash. Through her works, she wants to encourage others to consider ways to reduce waste so as not to harm our oceans and landfills.

Now the artist lives in Sydney and continues to do her environmental effort. Check out some of her creations below.
