]]>But while cooking is usually fairly intuitive, baking is a whole other ballpark. And if you’re new to this hobby, you might need a helping hand. Here to help you out is pastry chef Ravneet Gill. According to Gill, literally everyone can bake.
While some people take to baking immediately, says Gill, others decide on a different, more technical approach: “The internet is full of resources to the point where you can troubleshoot any issue you may have,” shared the pastry chef in an interview with Whistles. “It’s obvious to say but practicing technique and always tasting your food will get you there.”
According to Gill, if you want to take the plunge and become a chef, spend a week or two in a kitchen you admire to get a feel for it. If nothing, her latest book, The Pastry Chef’s Guide: The secret to successful baking every time, might just convince you. The book includes the core principles of patisserie—anything from ingredients to lining your tins.
“It’s written in a way that will help you to understand the principles that underpin pastry and show you that… it’s just not that hard,” explained Gill in one Instagram post. “In it, you’ll find lots of base recipes for you to use as staples and theory on how to elevate them and make them your own.”
Roll up your sleeves!

]]>These days, it’s hard to imagine life without this celebrated cookie (indeed, it’s hard to think of a glass of milk without its glorious sidekick or better half). Recipes for this delightful treat are now outrageously sweet and even more outrageously crisp. But finding just the perfect cookie can be tough.
Most recently, we’ve come across Melissa Stadler’s cookie chip recipe. Though the recipe itself was uploaded quite some time ago, it pops up once and again in food blogs and Instagram, crowned as the Famous Levain Bakery Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe.
“These aren’t some ordinary bite-size cookies,” writes Stadler on her website. “No, these are a full-on meal. Well maybe for some people.” The trick, says Stadler, is in their size. “Here’s the deal—you make them big. Really big. Like only four can fit on a cookie sheet, BIG. These are the BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES EVER. Yep, I said it.”
A two-time Pillsbury Bake-Off finalist, Stadler knows what she’s talking about. Her food blog and accompanying Instagram page are filled with quick and easy dinners, healthy recipes, and mouthwatering desserts. But you’ll definitely want to start with the cookies.

]]>With some 600k fans on Instagram alone, McKenney has introduced plenty of people to the art – and science – of baking. The three time’s best-selling cookbook author and creator of Sally’s Baking Addiction blog, McKenney offers from-scratch recipes, kitchen tips, lessons on baking basics, step-by-step photos, and video tutorials – so you know you’re covered.
Having launched her website in 2011, what started out as a personal blog and an easy way to share baking recipes with friends and family would outgrow its humble beginnings. The self-taught baker would soon learn that her recipes had an audience, and after only a year and a half of running her blog, she quit her full-time job to make room for her growing business.
According to McKenney, her favorite flavor to bake with is actually pumpkin. “I eat it all year round,” she told Bakepedia, “but we are coming into the season where people look for it … pies, breads, all kinds of desserts with pumpkin! And apple pie is my very favorite dessert, so you can look forward to variations of that.”
Indeed, her most popular recipe this time of year is, unsurprisingly, The Great Pumpkin Pie Recipe. Scroll down to see more of her mouthwatering deserts.

]]>Having adopted a gluten-free diet, she creates and shares recipes of elaborate cakes that have zero gluten. “I transitioned to a gluten-free diet about a year ago, and while I still love over-the-top cakes, I want to create recipes for every day as well as for special occasions,” remarked Howard in an interview with le buzz.
Her blog and accompanying Instagram, Oh Honey Bakes, are filled with mouth-watering desserts that will have you gagging (even without the gluten). Recent recipes include a gluten-free apple cinnamon cake and a pumpkin cake with gingersnap toffee and cream cheese buttercream filling.
“I fell in love with baking about ten years ago,” says Howard. “I started baking insane cakes after I had my son, and friends started asking for the recipes. When we moved to Seattle, my friend Holly of The Modern Proper encouraged me to start posting the recipes somewhere, so I did! I really had no expectations, it was just something fun for me to do.”
Her food photos are beautifully curated, adding an overall atmosphere of coziness and comfort, which is exactly what we seek this winter.

“All cookies are made by hand with utmost care,” writes Stern on her website. “Cookies are pressed with flowers and herbs seasonally available. Every cookie is different and pressed with individual botanicals.”
“We take immense pride in our high quality ingredients and care,” adds Stern. “All ingredients are organic and of the highest quality.” She also teaches cooking classes which aim to help others recreate the magic in the comfort of their homes.
