The post Kassandra Guzman Makes Cheerful Ceramic Pieces With Wobbly Handles appeared first on TettyBetty.
]]>Guzman started her journey as a ceramic artist back in 2016 when she decided to try her luck in the pottery business and establish a studio in her apartment. She worked on her skills while also looking for ways to get people interested in her products. As it turned out, the latter wasn’t all that tough as Guzman was natural and her small-batch releases would quickly sell out.
As her business grew, Guzman was also growing as an artist. She started experimenting with various designs and at one point found herself focusing on the handles of her ceramic pieces. This led to the creation of exciting new collections that featured organic shapes with whimsical handles.
These collections brought Guzman more exposure and even caught the attention of interior designers for Showtime’s variety series Ziwe. They contacted her and this led to one of her pieces even making the set of the show. This inspired her to continue working even harder and she currently has several new projects lined up. In the meantime, let’s check out more of her works below.

]]>This talented Bristol-based artist creates curious ceramic figurines that are nothing like you’ve seen before. Her porcelain creatures are often on the surreal side, having animal and human-like features with the addition of fantasy elements.
According to Woodrow, her captivating works are inspired by “the contact point between the natural world and human culture.”
“I am fascinated by the representations that people have made of animals throughout the ages, what they say about them and their times, their sense of themselves in the world, their strengths and vulnerabilities,” she explains.
Woodrow has been creating in various media over the years. However, clay was always her main focus, and this fascination prompted her to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Ceramics at Falmouth College of Art. While influenced by many contemporary and classic artists, she always strived to develop her own style, which is evident in her ceramic figurines.
Woodrow’s pieces often find homes in private collections and art galleries. She also frequently shares her newest creations on Instagram. Check out more of them below.

]]>My work naturally takes a whole season to prepare and/or relies on the occasional winter rainfall,” Colossal quotes her. “I allow it to grow organically and see it as a collaboration with nature. After all, clay itself is a material of the earth.”
All of her pieces are not only beautiful, but also functional. Al Ajmani also teaches workshops at Clay Corner Studio, her own studio that she founded in 2019 in her native city of Ajman. She has enjoyed playing with many different types of clay since she was little, so today she knows what to use depending on the effect she wants to achieve. She started to do professional work when she was in university and over time turned it into her full-time job.

]]>“I like making things that make people happy,” she told Inky Goodness. “I love the personalised element to it, especially with gifts. A lot of people come to me with a commission for a friend who has a pet that they love dearly, or they want me to pull their personal quirks out from. I just love the thought of them opening this completely unexpected gift.”
“My media is often mixed,” she added, talking about her creative process. “I draw, first and foremost though. I’m most comfortable using a brush over a pencil. I enjoy working with collage, as well as clay, and wire/paper sculpture.”
“I’ve been experimenting with clay and larger, more color and texture based, minimal painting,” she went on to say. “With the ceramics, I’ve managed to pick some comic characters right off the paper, and mold them into these life like creations, that are also really sellable products.”

“I was living with a roommate who was doing ceramics in his garage and I had a bunch of concepts floating around in my head,” recalled Little in an interview with the Urban Outfitters blog. “He taught me the basics and I have been doing it for 8 years now. My style has evolved as I have learned more about my craft. I will have ideas for years and not know how to properly execute them. Then, someone within my community will give me some advice or I will learn a new technique and figure it out. Once I have a success like that, I will build off of it and apply that new technique to other pieces.”
“Ceramics and art in general makes me feel euphoric,” said the Texas-based artist. “There will inevitably be low points in your given endeavor but if you feel intensely about what you do it won’t matter.”

]]>Trained originally as a graphic designer, Hampton switched careers after receiving a ceramics class as a Christmas gift from her parents. “It was a very organic accident, ending up here,” she told MONTECRISTO Magazine. But the rest was history.
Now, with more than 30 thousand followers on Instagram, her ceramics are slowly but surely taking over the world. “I think the pastels were kind of my compromise, my own internal compromise—just using pastels and light colors was how I was able to be okay with so much color,” she explained.
“I appreciate color, but I’m making things for someone else, sort of: someone who’s much bolder than me and loves having color in their home. Sometimes I make things that have a lot of color and I think, ‘Who would like this? Who is this for?’”
“I like the hard angles and sharp lines,” she added. “That’s another thing I don’t even think about—that’s just how I make things. It’s a tricky medium in which to be precise; it doesn’t want to be precise all the time, so it’s challenging.”
