Model and cancer survivor Mama Cāx doesn’t take no for an answer. Whether it’s playing wheelchair basketball, rock climbing, or running, Cāx has an extremely active lifestyle and has no intention of slowing down.

At the age of 14, she was diagnosed with bone and lung cancer that resulted in a leg amputation at the hip. But by 28, she walked the catwalk at New York Fashion Week, because – why the heck not?

“There are very few people with disabilities in the fashion industry let alone the catwalk so when the opportunity came up I didn’t hesitate,” she explained in an interview with Create & Cultivate. “I knew it would be a way to break barriers and help open doors for others by showing it is possible.”

“I do believe that there are positive bubbles on social media; as consumers it’s up to us to decide if we are going to follow accounts that make up desperate and enviable or follow those who make us appreciate who we are,” she added.

“People often assume that I’m an extremely positive person; the truth is I’m quite the pessimist,” she went on to say“But I’m very goal-oriented and ambitious. I think what often keeps me going is knowing that I can’t change the past and the future is not guaranteed, therefore I have no choice but to make the best of the present.”

Her striking photos, shared on Instagram, are just the fashion statement we needed on our feed.

Chika Usui is a Japanese photographer who is obsessed with scarecrows. Her fascination began with her mother passing away. When tragedy hit her, Usui decided to leave her hometown and found herself in one village deep in the mountains where she saw more scarecrows than villagers.

“Personally spending time with scarecrows is a pleasant moment which makes me be who I am naturally; it’s like I’m talking about silly stuff to my best friends,” Usui shared withBored Panda. “I temporarily stayed away from the cold world of humans and logged into the world of scarecrows; taking photos of me and scarecrows, I could confirm my presence in the world, which gave me a little confident about myself.”

Usui now gathers her scarecrows and takes hilarious self-portraits with them, which she later shares on social media. “I’ll keep on enjoying myself, facing such complicating personality and emotions,” she stressed.

Having a passion for design, photography, and travel, Gold decided to launch her own creative agency in 2013, and her eye-catching aesthetic has been sought after by brands like GAP, J. Crew, PANTENE, and VOGUE.

“I picked up a camera when I turned 15 and never looked back. I enjoyed documenting life and the beauty that I saw in things that others didn’t deem as beautiful,” she recalled in an interview with Create & Cultivate.

“I love documenting beautiful things and giving life to things that are often taken for granted. Through my work, I’m able to offer a different perspective on how people may perceive their everyday ‘norm’ and that to me is what really makes it all magical.”

Prepare to be inspired (or jealous).

Summertime, and the livin’ is easy. And if living is easy, then Jesse Chamberlain Marble’s photos are a summer breeze. Full of sunshine, flowers, and pools, her pastel-colored photos have a hazy feel to them.

For Chamberlain Marble, photography is a second language that she learned early on. “The first photo I ever developed myself was back in the Pentax days,” she writes on her personal website. “I developed the photo in my bathtub. I was 12.”

“I find I don’t always have the right words to express myself,” admits the L.A based photographer. “Photography has single-handedly contributed to my ability to communicate with others because I can show people what I mean instead of trying to find the feeling in language.”

“So, you could say that photography is kind of like my superpower, really. My photos bring me into a realm of communication that bypasses the spoken word.”

Take a look.

Photographer Emma O’Brien loves dogs and says she lives with a whole pack of them. She also likes to take beautiful portraits of animals and in one of her latest projects, she photographed black cats and dogs to help them get adopted.

“Black dogs and cats get a raw deal when it comes to being unwanted. Ending up at a shelter is bad news for any animal, but black critters are the least likely to be adopted and if they are lucky enough to be chosen by an adoptee, they will have waited the longest”, O’Brien wrote for Bored Panda.

Apparently, one of the reasons why black cats and dogs are the last on the list for adoption is that they don’t photograph well. O’Brien managed to disprove this by capturing their personality and character with all these amazing portraits.

Take a look at these photos that will hopefully help our lovely black friends find new home soon.

From ordinary scenes of her kids’ lives such as taking walks, visiting grandma or playing with friends, the photographer managed to capture magical moments. Podlasinska soon decided to put her career on hold and devote herself to this new passion.

“I read every book I had on photography, watched videos online and started shooting myself”, she remembered how she started learning about photography.

“I’m still learning, experimenting, trying to find my own unique way. When taking photos, I like to look at the world with my children’s eyes and capture the amazement and curiosity in their eyes as they discover the world. Photography already changed my life.”

All of her arrangements are shot in her house in New Haven Connecticut, where she keeps a studio. “As far as how I find materials to experiment with, it varies a lot,” she told Colossal. “I generally work with what I can find around the house, inside or out. It begins as a scavenger hunt of sorts, and then a challenge as I begin to build.”

Her artistic career includes work in floral design, interior decorating, window design, and prop styling.

Portraits can be made using different techniques, from painting through photographing and sculpting. But have you ever heard of paper sculpture portraits?

Alma Haser’s photographs add another dimension to two-dimensional portraits, using paper-folding techniques, collages, and mixed media. Born into an artistic family in the Black Forest in Germany, she was immersed in art from an early age.

“My father is a painter and sculptor and my mother, when we were living in Germany, was doing pottery, but has moved on to first mixed media and then photography, which inspired me I think,” she shared with Plastik Magazine.

Now based in London, she admits that her interest with photography begun when she was a little girl. “My first ever camera was a Box Brownie, which I was given when I was about seven,” she shared. “I used to set up scenes with my dolls and photograph them. And at this point, my mother was doing photography and had a darkroom, which I found extremely interesting, and used to develop my own pictures.”

Swiss photographer Pierre Pellegrini created a series of incredible winter photographs through which he expresses some of the deepest emotions. To take these beautiful photos, the photographer usually travels to remote places where he spends a lot of time finding the perfect scene and moment.

His unique style can easily be recognized among many other artists: his black and white photos capture the striking contrast between the white snow and black trees.

“I’m always looking for the aesthetic sense, the beauty, the order, the elegance present in nature. As if everything were perfectly balanced, in harmony. A kind of perfection where no element prevails over the other,” said Pellegrini.

To capture these mesmerizing moments, Pellegrini uses the technique of long exposure. It’s one of his favorites and he explains why: “Thanks to this technique, the reality is partly transformed. As it is true that some elements are reproduced as such, it is also true that some, especially those who have the ability to move from one physical state to another like water and clouds, appear in a new form, detaching from visual reality.”

Take a look at his incredible winter photography.

There’s something truly relaxing about an organized space. Multimedia artist, Kristen Meyer’s, knows a thing or two about it. She arranges materials like rocks, leaves, and metal, in geometric shapes that are laid down on pastel backgrounds.
