Karolina Romanowska found viral fame with her ceramic art, but don’t expect to find any cute mugs and plates on her Instagram page. She specializes in making quirky stoneware masks that she describes as “extremely resilient yet fragile”.

Romanowska is based in Madison, Wisconsin, and making pottery art is her way of getting to experience childlike freedom all over again. Working on her ceramics reminds her of the childhood days she spent playing in the dirt and transforming mud into pizzas, birds, castles, and everything in between.

Romanowska now enjoys working with clay, using a combination of slabs, coils, and molds to create her signature three-dimensional mask, and focusing on them wasn’t a coincidence.

“Masks are present wherever humans are. I am only repeating an act that has been done since the beginning of us. Used for rituals and entertainment, masks can hide or reveal who we are,” she told Colossal.

Romanowska’s masks are as expressive as they come, and they helped her attract 100,000 followers to her Instagram page. She’s hoping they’ll stick with people and stand the test of time because she enjoys imagining people seeing them for the first time and wondering, “What the hell is this?”

Adrienne Lee is a Chicago, Illinois, based artist who creates impressive landscape art using fiber. Using colorful threads, she is able to capture changing skies over the hills, lush green plains, peaceful blue rivers flowing in the mountains, and more in textile.

Lee says that she got into weaving a few years ago when a friend, who is a fiber artist, gave her some lessons. She immediately fell in love with the medium and progressed quickly, which allowed her to start making complex fiber art herself.

Being fascinated with the sky and nature, Lee opted for an unconventional path of creating landscape fiber art. This path resulted in an ongoing Painted Sky series, which brought Lee recognition in the fiber art community and brought her to the attention of social media users, who have been raving about her works full of colors, details, and serene scenes.

“My work is first and foremost inspired by the sky, but knowing that I wanted to weave more than skies, I looked at landscapes and seascapes for inspiration, especially those found in the south: the beaches at Kiawah Island and Isle of Palms, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the open fields that you can find on almost any back country road in my small hometown,” Lee shares on her website.

You can check out more of Lee’s landscape fiber art by checking her website and social media or by scrolling below.

Rescue canine Peggy was once best known as Britain’s ugliest dog, but those days are long behind her. This quirky Pugese got another shot at fame and won the hearts of countless people around the world while playing Dogpool in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Peggy became quite a superstar thanks to Deadpool & Wolverine, but her beginnings were pretty humble. She’s a crossbreed between a Pug and a Chinese Crested Dog, who was the runt of an accidental litter and the last of her siblings to find a loving home.

Holly Middleton fell in love with this unusual dog right away and adopted her when she was six months old. Peggy became a true sensation after winning Britain’s ugliest dog competition in 2023, and this eventually helped the team behind Deadpool & Wolverine discover her.

Ryan Reynolds campaigned for Peggy to be cast from the get-go because she felt like “the animal manifestation of Wade Wilson.” Despite the fact she had no formal training, Peggy was eventually cast as Dogpool, and animal trainer Jules Tottman helped her prepare for the film.

In addition to stealing every scene she was in, Peggy was a part of the film’s promo tour, and she walked the red carpet in London alongside the leading duo Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

Architects find inspiration for their designs in all sorts of different places. Famed Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí was inspired by shapes and forms found in nature, Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid relied on calligraphic drawings to visualize her ideas, while Le Corbusier drew inspiration from his frequent travels.

For Brazilian architectural designer Felipe de Castro, the majority of inspiration lies in the items that we see and use on a daily basis. He takes the shapes and properties of everyday objects and turns them into sketches of buildings.

De Castro’s creativity is quite impressive, and no object is impossible to tackle. So far, he has sketched buildings inspired by video game consoles, office supplies, soda cans, tools, and even a stack of crates.

A great thing about De Castro’s architectural designs is that most of them can actually be built in reality despite their unorthodox origins.

“Although it is a practice of drawing and an exercise in creativity, I try to create the drawings in a way that is possible to be built, some are just in concept, but most could be built, “he shared in a recent chat with Bored Panda.

De Castro regularly showcases new building sketches on his Instagram profile, where he has close to 100K followers. Scroll down to check out more of them.

Chappell Roan is the latest example of how viral fame can translate to chart success, as social media led many people to discover her music. Her biggest hits are steadily climbing up the charts, and “Hot To Go!” is even hailed as the next “Y.M.C.A.”

“Hot To Go!” was released as a part of Roan’s debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which entered the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart last month—despite being released in September last year. Roan said she wrote it because she’s a huge fan of audience participation, and she wanted a silly and simple song that allowed her to live out her cheerleader fantasy.

As Roan’s music started gaining traction thanks to the success of “Good Luck, Babe!”, people started rediscovering older songs, and “Hot To Go!” became an unexpected viral hit. “H-O-T T-O G-O” went viral hit on social media, with many TikTok users mimicking the moves from Roan’s music video.

Its infectious energy and silly lyrics draw comparisons to other songs, with some people going so far as to describe it as modern “Y.M.C.A.” We’ll leave it to you to decide if this song is as catchy as the Village People classic, but we’ll certainly be hearing it all summer long.

Derrick Velasquez is a Denver, Colorado-based artist who creates captivating wall sculptures that consist of colorful vinyl stripes stacked on top of each other. While the premise might sound simple, just one glance at these works and you begin to realize how much work and thought has been put into them.

Velasquez’s creations look like a perfect arrangement of colors that come together to evoke feelings of curiosity and visual satisfaction. Every layer of the same-color vinyl stripes appears just like a brushstroke of paint, with uneven ends to enhance the effect of a brush being lifted from the canvas.

His creative process starts with placing hundreds upon hundreds of vinyl stripes over a piece of wood. Under their own weight, the stripes begin to bend and take over the shape of the wood they rest upon.

According to Velasquez, “slowly building these sculptures becomes akin to layers upon layers of the experiences and connections we make inviting a perceptual encounter and a tactile experience.”

Velasquez’s vinyl sculptures have received recognition in the art community, with the artist receiving a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant for Painters and Sculptors and a MacDowell fellowship. He also exhibited his works across the United States, including a solo show at The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver. Check out more of them below.

A UK woman named Sharon Hughes recently went viral for her unusual friendship with a group of wild foxes. As it turns out, Hughes has been feeding the same fox family for the past 25 years.

Hughes often shares her encounters with foxes on social media, and the internet can’t get enough of these videos. Most of the time, the foxes gather in front of Hughes’ porch and wait until she gives them something to eat.

The first TikTok, which Hughes shared back in February, received almost 18 million views. The clip shows foxes patiently waiting for each of them to receive a sausage roll and then running away to eat it in peace.

“We are now on the fourth generation of foxes. I remember feeding their great-grandparents,” Hughes shared with British media outlet Mirror.

Hughes also watches for the medical needs of the foxes. If she notices one of them is not feeling well or is hurt, she will contact a veterinarian or slip some medicine into their food.

On the other hand, foxes show appreciation for Hughes’ generosity by bringing her gifts.

“The foxes are very friendly and often bring us gifts like mice, which they leave on the doorstep,” Hughes added.

Most books end up collecting dust on a bookshelf or, even worse, in some dark storage once they have been read. But, a group of artists from France are looking to save these kinds of books and give them a new life and purpose.

Known collectively as Book Master, these artists are carving and folding pages of a book in an impressive way to transform them into works of art. They incorporate all sorts of intriguing and eye-catching designs ranging from pop-culture subjects, including anime and Disney characters, to recreations of sports club logos and commissioned work.

According to the group, they mainly use recycled books and aim to promote eco-responsible art.

“Our love for craftsmanship is reflected in each work, transforming books into unique works of art. Every fold is meticulously executed, demonstrating our commitment to excellence. We seek to push the boundaries of creativity by folding each page with precision, creating designs that amaze,” Book Master adds.

Artists behind Book Master frequently share their newest creations on social media. They also provide their followers insights into their creative process, and watching it makes you appreciate things they do even more. You can check out more of their past creations below.

Life constantly plays jokes on us and serves us with big portions of humor. It is usually up to us whether we’ll laugh at those moments or take them personally and feel bad about it.

Artist Ellen Woodbury took the route of embracing the comedy aspect of everyday life and it inspired her to create PizzaCake Comics. In these comics, you will encounter all sorts of relatable situations that you probably experienced before but maybe didn’t view as funny, including family affairs, career fails, awkward social encounters, life with pets, and much more.

According to Woodbury, the goal of her comics is to entertain people, make them smile, and help them view things in a more positive light.

“These are stories about learning to laugh at yourself, laughing at tough times, and laughing at everything actually,” Woodbury describes PizzaCake Comics on her official website.

Woodbury started publishing PizzaCake Comics in 2021. Since then, her sense of humor and visually pleasing drawing style captured the attention of internet users from around the world. Her comics amassed a significant following on social media, boosting 37K followers on Instagram alone.
