Finding a good apartment in New York City doesn’t come cheap. But as it turns out, even bad apartments are quite costly, as a recent viral video posted by realtor David Okocha shows.

Okocha recently gave his Instagram followers a tour of an apartment in Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood that is in the running for having the “worst layout” he ever seen.

Right off the bat, it becomes obvious that whoever designed the apartment didn’t have comfort in mind. The shower is shockingly close to the front door while also being basically part of the kitchen. To make it worse, it isn’t actually a shower but a small semi-open cubicle with a shower head planted on the wall and a drain on the floor.

Furthermore, the toilet doesn’t have a sink or a light, while the kitchen looks like it was randomly put together in the worst place possible. But that isn’t the best part. Despite everything, the owner still feels comfortable asking for a whopping price of $3,495 per month.

It is safe to say that internet users were shocked by what they’ve seen and made sure to show it in the comments section.

“Jail for everyone involved,” one user commented.

“That price doesn’t leave much leftover for therapy because of the depression you’ll get for living here,” another added.

Back in 2022, Northern Virginia native Hannah Williams decided to quit her job as a data analyst and focus on her new career: being a TikTok content creator. Since then, Williams has become a huge TikTok star thanks to her viral videos in which she approaches people on the street and asks them how much they earn.

Williams, who posts under the handle Salary Transparent Street, doesn’t only have a goal of producing engaging content on social media. She also wants to tackle the issue of salary transparency, allow people to get a better idea of salaries for different jobs, and help them get paid more.

One of Williams’ videos that turned viral has been dedicated to the salaries of software engineers. In a clip that got more than 10 million views since being posted in February, software engineers from different states and with various experiences reveal that the salary for the position can range from $90K all the way to $500K.

Williams, who also established the Salary Transparent Street website to give job seekers more resources, has also been open about her own earnings. One of her recent videos revealed how much she earned from TikTok in 2023.

Most people just put some spooky decorations around their house on Halloween and call it a day. But one dad uses this holiday to showcase his creativity and create stunning Halloween installations on his driveway.

TikToker Parker Saltsman recently shared a video on social media that showed her dad building a huge troll, a mythical creature from Norse mythology, on the driveway for Halloween. The dad not only created a highly realistic sculpture but also fitted it with scary sounds and movable fingers. The troll’s mouth can also be opened to enter its scary inside.

@parkersaltsman

In the dark recesses of Norway’s forests, mythical trolls lurk. Large, humanoid beings with grotesque, rugged features: forest trolls are part of the spirit and folklore of the wilderness. If touched by the first rays of sunlight, their rugged features turn to stone. The forest troll is a testament to the enduring connection between folklore and the untamed realms of nature. #halloween #spooky #Splice

This unique Halloween installation quickly went viral on social media, being viewed more than 20.5 million times. The clip also got close to 30K comments, with internet users sharing their praise for the dad’s creation.

“Omg he needs to be a part of Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights,” one TikToker wrote.

“This stuff should go in a museum,” another added.

Saltsman’s TikTok profile also features clips with other Halloween installations that her dad crafted, with each one being more impressive than the previous one. This includes King Kong, a scary sculpture of a walking man, Ancient Egyptian queen cobra-goddess Meretseger, a dragon, a ghost ship, and a spaceship.

Parents usually don’t want their kids near scary-looking toys, thinking that they might frighten them and cause them nightmares. But it turns out that some kids actually find these types of toys adorable.

TikToker Brittany Christiana recently shared a clip on social media that shows how her baby daughter Violet reacted to receiving a scary doll as a gift. To make things even more interesting, it was her older daughter Lilly who recommended it.

The video starts with Lilly holding a green demonic baby doll and asking her mother whether they can buy it for “baby Violet” with an excited look on her face. After Christiana agrees, they introduce the doll to Violet, who immediately falls in love with it.

Not only did Violet immediately embrace the scary doll, but the baby girl also didn’t want to let it go when it was time for her to go to sleep.

The video got more than 35 million views while getting 25K comments from TikTokers who were amazed by Violet’s reaction.

“It’s like they are too full of love to see anything scary,” one user wrote. “The way she got progressively more excited the closer you brought it to her,” another added.

Michael Davydov is a talented artist who creates fascinating miniature houses that he confines in glass containers. His works look like they came straight out of some fantasy world and are displayed in a way that allows the viewer to unpack their intricate details.

Davydov enjoyed building things with his hands from early childhood. He was making simplistic sculptures using any material he could get his hands on, but as he grew older, his creative process became more complex.

Nowadays, Davydov uses clay, paper, fabric, and wood, among other materials, to craft countryside houses, elaborate buildings, and sometimes complete small towns that can fit on one’s palm. They all have imaginative elements added to them, being placed on top of trees or built on Moon-like structures.

Davydov aims to spark imagination with his works but also to send a message about the current state of the world.

“It is not difficult to see in my works the idea of the fragility of the world, behind thin glass—in photographs where these worlds literally fit in one hand,” he shared in a recent chat with Art of Play. “I broke glass several times and repaired some tiny world that had accidentally fallen, but this will not work with our world. It is alone, and it is in our hands.”

Imagine being involved in a mystery so entertaining that even the New York Times best-selling author John Green is intrigued by it. Well, TikTok user @katherout doesn’t have to imagine because that is exactly what happened to her.

Last week, @katherout shared a video on her TikTok that detailed her attempt to uncover a “little mystery” happening in her gym. According to TikToker, there is a whiteboard in her gym that allows gymgoers to write messages on topics provided by the gym staff. They range from favorite songs to questions like “If you were a potato, how would you be prepared?”

Going through answers on the whiteboard, @katherout noticed that someone was always writing the word “MONKE” no matter what the topic was.

“This is very amusing to me because I’m very attracted to commitment to the bit,” she explained in the video.

The TikToker then decided to embark on a mission to discover the identity of the “MONKE” person. She tried to get the individual to reveal themselves via whiteboard message and even left a note with her number on the gym’s front desk.

@katherout

my life is very whimsical and fantastical becaise i make it that way by engaging in these sorts or charades #crush #gym #gymtok #dating #truecrime #mystery

♬ original sound – katherine

While she still didn’t solve the mystery, @katherout managed to amuse the internet with her quest. The original video was viewed by more than 16 million people and attracted thousands of comments, including one from John Green, writer of novels Looking for Alaska and The Fault is in Our Stars.

“This is a great American drama. I am highly invested,” wrote Green via his TikTok profile @literallyjohngreen and encouraged @katherout to keep on with her quest.

@katherout

Replying to @literallyjohngreen life is stranger than fiction etc #mysterymonkegymgoer

Since then, @katherout issued a second update on the mystery, revealing that her message to the “MONKE” person has been erased from the whiteboard. This adds another layer to the mystery and makes us even more invested in it. How about you?

One middle-school teacher from Utah has managed to raise more than $30,000 to pay off student lunch debt. And he did that with the help of TikTok.

Garrett Jones, who works at the Rocky Mountain Middle School in Heber City, uploaded a short clip on his TikTok profile a few weeks ago in which he asked his followers to consider donating $1 in favor of settling the “outstanding lunch fees of every student in my middle school”.

The video quickly turned viral, generating more than five million views, while his Venmo account saw $2,000 in donations in just 24 hours.

@cgj205

Kids can’t learn if they’re hungry and don’t deserve to be handed a bill for lunch at a place they have to be. School lunch should be free. #teachersoftiktok #teacher #schoollunch #middleschool #elementaryschool #highschool

♬ I hope yall are making some money – cash.bets

His campaign continued to pick up steam in the following days. The number of views continued to rise, with the donated amount exceeding $30,000 after a week.

“I was blown away,” Jones said when reached out to by USA TODAY. “I was literally expecting, best-case scenario, maybe we’d get a couple hundred bucks.”

Since the student lunch debt in his school was around $8,000, Jones decided to extend the campaign to the whole Wasatch County School District. He will distribute the funds to other schools in order to help students there to get free meals and be able to focus only on studying and getting good grades.

@cgj205

Update Number 5! 99% of what I said didn’t make the story and I’m bummed because you guys deserve all the credit. I’m so glad my district is stepping up with a legitimate accounting of the money so that I can be transparent with you all. This week was amazing. People are so good. ❤ #UnlimitedHPInk #teachersoftiktok #teacher #giving #schoollunch #middleschool #highschool

When the COVID-19 lockdowns made them stay at home, people had to turn to various things to fill the time. Some decided to catch up on the books they meant to read for ages, while others opted to learn new skills like cooking or guitar playing.

Others, like Alex Zane and his daughter Matilda, started exciting projects that became huge on social media.

Zane and Matilda is the duo behind the viral Instagram page Tot for Tot Remakes, which features recreations of iconic scenes from movies. Zane is responsible for the behind-the-scenes work and logistics, while five-year-old Matilda is the star of the show. Together, they produce charming shots beloved by tens of thousands of people from around the globe.

In a recent interview with Movie Metropolis, Zane revealed that this intriguing project came together accidentally. Matilda was trying to surf a small plastic car one day and he was immediately reminded of the scene from the 1985 movie Teen Wolf. Zane snapped a photo shared it on social media alongside the original, and the rest is history.

Since then, the two recreated more than 100 different scenes from classics like The Shining, Die Hard, Shawshank Redemption, and The Matrix. They intend to do much more as the project is fun for both and is helping them create a stronger bond. Check out more of their recreations below.

Sweden could become the first country in the world to have a cleaning crew entirely made out of crows. At least that’s the idea behind a Corvid Cleaning project, which aims to train crows to pick up trash from the streets in exchange for food.

The project is currently in its early phases and is being tested in the city of Södertälje. The crows are being taught to pick up cigarettes butts and bring them to a designated container. Each time they do that, they get rewarded with peanuts.

Christian Günther-Hanssen, the man behind Corvid Cleaning, envisions that this project could cut the costs of street cleaning for the city and help them use funds in other areas of need. Sweden has a significant issue with cigarette butts, which make up an estimated 60% of all the litter in the country.

“The estimation for the cost of picking up cigarette butts today is around 80 öre ($0.09) or more per cigarette butt, some say 2 Krona ($0.22),” Günther-Hanssen explains. “If the crows pick up cigarette butts, this would maybe be 20 öre ($0.023) per cigarette butt. The saving for the municipality depends on how many cigarette butts the crows pick up.”

The idea might seem far-fetched to some, but a video of crows in action shared by Günther-Hanssen shows otherwise.

However, before the project takes off, several more steps need to be covered. One of them is doing a study related to concerns about the negative impact of cigarette butts on crows.

“An important part of the upcoming pilot test is to monitor the levels of compounds in the birds, in order to remove the unknowns,” Günther-Hanssen adds. “Should any reach dangerous levels the project will be modified to exclude any items containing those compounds.”

@parkersaltsman

@katherout

my life is very whimsical and fantastical becaise i make it that way by engaging in these sorts or charades #crush #gym #gymtok #dating #truecrime #mystery

@katherout

@cgj205

@cgj205
