Alireza Karimi Moghaddam Imagines the Story Behind Vincent van Gogh’s Paintings

Alireza Karimi Moghaddam is an Iranian cartoonist, illustrator, and graphic designer currently living and working in Lisbon, Portugal. He became viral thanks to his admiration for Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh.

He says that he was only a teenager when he discovered his passion for the artist’s life story and paintings. He followed almost all the books and movies that have been made about his favorite creator.

“For me, Van Gogh is not only a painter and a genius artist but a way of life. He is not a frustrated and distressed model but a symbol of love, humanity, and altruism,” the artist shared on Bored Panda. “I understand and propagate it from a different perspective, and on the contrary to a prevailing traditional view, I would like a different Van Gogh to be a Van Gogh for everyone.”

From receiving a bouquet of sunflowers to dreaming about his ear, and watching the stars, Moghaddam puts the Dutch artist into different situations, imagining the situations which might lead to creating his art.
