Artist Creates Adorable Beach-Inspired Masterpieces

Sea creatures, beach houses, whales and boats are just some of the masterpieces created of artist Kirsty Elson. The Cornwall, England based crafter creates unique art by collecting driftwood, shells, and other old and boring stuff no one needs.

“I love the idea of using unremarkable found objects and turning them into one-off sculptures,” Elson wrote on her personal website. “I’m inspired by my surroundings, but mostly I’m inspired by the materials I find. I hope my work makes you smile!”

She seeks her inspiration from the beach and everything that surrounds her.

“The great thing about driftwood is that each piece is very different,” the artist said in an interview with Studio Wallop on her website. “I tend to let the materials lead me, rather than having an idea in my head and trying to find a piece to fit my idea… I let the materials do the work really.”
