This Artist Creates Realistic Miniature Animals

Katie Doka is a former Visual Arts teacher in Budapest and currently living in Copenhagen. She began making miniatures in 2008 and since she has a background in sculpture, she also creates human figures in 1:8 and 1:10 scale.

In 2012, she started making dollhouse miniature animals. Her main artworks are birds because of their colorful feathers. When she finish one tiny animal, she feels it has come to life. Her customers also feel the same way when they are holding the small creature in their hands. They also say that each bird has its own character. The secret lies in making their eyes, she uses special techniques so that the eyes will come to life.

Creating the feet of the birds is kind of difficult but after two years of practice, she managed to develop a method and now the toes and wings are able to stand on their own.

Her materials include artisan quality polymer clays, Genesis Oil paint, Acrylic Paint, jewelry wire, glass or resin Eyes and natural fibers, feathers. Her miniature animals come with a Certitificate of Authenticity. Scroll down to see her intricate works.
