We usually look up to our parents and many would aspire to be like them. Even Bill Gates, one of the world’s most successful and richest man, strive to be like his father. The billionaire shared his heartwarming post to celebrate his dear father, revealing how much he aspires to be the real “Bill Gates.”

Gates announced last year that his father, who was a retired lawyer, suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. This degenerative brain disease is the most common form of dementia that results in progressive memory loss. Microsoft founder describes it as “It feels a lot like you’re experiencing a gradual death of the person that you knew.”

There are no known cause and effective treatment for Alzheimer’s. Gates’ personal experience has exposed him to how distressing it feels when you or a loved one gets the disease. He donated 100 million dollars for research hoping that science will find the cure.

“It’s a terrible disease that devastates both those who have it and their loved ones,” he explained. He remains positive about the outcomes of the research. “People should be able to enjoy their later years—and we need a breakthrough in Alzheimer’s to fulfill that. I’m excited to join the fight and can’t wait to see what happens next.”
