A woman from the United States just discovered that her patriotic shirt with stars and stripes which she wears every 4th of July is strikingly similar to the flag of Panama.

For the past 25 years, 88-year-old Shirley Cheesman wore this shirt every Independence Day. Dale, Shirley’s grandson from Houston, Texas just uncovered the long-standing mix-up on a post he shared on Twitter. Proud Panamanians shared his post over a thousand times and they’ve even invited Dale and his family over to their country for a visit.

When BBC spoke to Dale, he said that he and his brother-in-law noticed the resemblance as they watched the World Cup together. According to Dale, they celebrated the 4th of July weekend a bit earlier since Independence Day this year fell on a Wednesday. They then showed their grandma the photo at dinner time.

Dale stated that his grandma isn’t happy with the now-famous photo because she wasn’t wearing makeup on it. Dale, however, still thinks his grandma looks cute.

So does this mean that Shirley won’t wear the shirt anymore? Well, apparently, she’ll continue wearing the shirt every 4th of July. It has already become part of their family’s tradition. As a matter of fact, Dale is even thinking of buying the same shirt for his whole family to wear every Independence Day!
