Marina Esmeraldo’s Art is a Colorful Mix

Marina Esmeraldo describes herself as an artist, an architect, and a tropical child from Brazil. Based between Barcelona and London, her art is very much inspired by her tropical upbringing in northeast Brazil, as well as her travels around the world.

“My work represents where I come from, who I am and how I currently see the world,” she stressed in an interview with The Wild Magazine. Amongst the many things that make her tick are music, cinema, fashion, museums, patterns, a walk by the beach, and mid-century artists and makers.

With a background in architecture and a love for Modern Art, Esmeraldo’s style is minimalism blended together with a dash of color. Indeed, Esmeraldo admits that she’s drawn to a lot of clashing theories, like Minimalism and Postmodernism. “I also love Finnish design and architecture, I think they usually find the perfect visual balance between serenity and busy-ness,” she added.

Working both artistically and commercially, her art has been exhibited around the globe, including the Venice Biennale. She has also collaborated with some of the biggest brands out there like Nike, Google, Penguin, and Adidas.
