This mom shared a list of “don’ts” for her daughter that differ from the typical restrains kids get, like don’t stay out late, don’t spend too much time on your phone, etc.
No. While those things are important, the mom Toni Hammer from Portland thought she better shared some less obvious thing her daughter might not figure out on her own on time. This way, she can save her a lot of trouble.
This is a list for everyone to read, no matter how old and experienced. The insights sum up some of the most crucial things in everyone’s life.
“Don’t apologize when someone else bumps into you,” the letter shared on Facebook started. “Don’t say ‘sorry to be such a pain.’ You’re not a pain. You’re a person with thoughts and feelings who deserves respect. Don’t make up reasons as to why you can’t go out with a guy you don’t wanna go out with. You don’t owe anyone an explanation.”
It goes on: “I want to raise a daughter who is as confident as she is kind, who fights for those who can’t fight for themselves, who isn’t afraid to speak her mind and work hard to make the world a better place. Someone who is a lover of justice and believes change can happen.”
