Mona Caron Creates Wonderful Murals of Plants You Need to See

Muralist Mona Caron is doing an incredible job with her murals of plants she paints on buildings from Portland and São Paulo to Spain and Taiwan.

She lives in San Francisco and has both local and international partnerships with many social and environmental justice organizations. Her work fights for climate justice, labor rights, and water rights. The plants she picks for each mural can be found in the city where she paints it.

Talking about her work, Caron explained that there’s more to her murals than the first look reveals: “Several of these murals contain intricate miniature details, invisible from afar. These typically narrate the local history, chronicle the social life of the mural’s immediate surroundings, and visualize future possibility, and are created in a process that incorporates ideas emerging through spontaneous conversations with the artwork’s hosting communities while painting.”
