NASA Engineers Had a Pumpkin-Carving Contest and They Nailed it Big Time!

NASA engineers working in Jet Propulsion Laboratory in La CaƱada Flintridge, California work hard each day in order to come up with best technologic solutions for robots and spacecraft used in space researches. But, when Halloween comes around, they take a small break from their demanding work and engage in one of their favorite holiday activities; pumpkin carving.

Each year the engineers compete in the unofficial pumpkin carving contest in which come up with some of the most unique and interesting designs you’ll ever encounter. The winner of the competition ends up getting the bragging rights for a whole year.

“Everyone gets so excited about this competition that has no prize other than bragging rights,” said the 2017 winner, Iona Brockie. “Itā€™s fun to see everybody bring the same kind of crazy energy that they do to making the flight projects to something as simple as a pumpkin carving contest.”
