A new ‘super suit’ has been unveiled, and it might just be the solution to your movement problems. According to the United Nations, the number of people of 60 years or more is expected to more than double by the year 2050.

With the world’s population aging, problems with mobility will become more and more common. This decreases the quality of life and poses serious challenges in public and home spaces alike.

But a new breed of wearable technology might just be the answer you’ve been looking for. Designed by Seismic, the super-lightweight and comfortable ‘super suit’ works with the wearer’s muscles to boost their power.

The suit has electric ‘muscles’ embedded in clothing around the joints of the body. The ‘muscles’ of the suit are attached by tendon-like grips to the clothing. A computer and sensors activate the suit muscles, which has been designed with maximum comfort in mind.

The suit, which will come in a variety of designs, will be launched towards the end of the year in Japan, the US and the UK. It is currently being exhibited in an exhibition at the V & A Museum in London called The Future Starts Here.
