Old Skateboards Turned into Awesome Sculptures by Haroshi

The sculptures of Japanese skateboarder and self-taught sculptor Haroshi are proof that old and worn down skateboards don’t have to end up in the dumpster.

Haroshi takes discarded skateboard decks and glues them together in order to create a base for his sculptures. He then carves the base into awesome looking pop-culture inspired art pieces like skulls and figurines. Thanks to the fact that skateboards came in lots of different colors and are decorated with various artworks, the sculptures have vibrant colors and distinctive stripped look.

Haroshi also uses skateboards to make objects that have practical use like guitars.

“To Haroshi, his art pieces are equal to his skateboards, and that means they are his life itself.” – the artist’s works are described on his official website. “They’re his communication tool with both himself, and the outside world.”
