Katerina Marchenko is a Moscow-based embroidery artist who stitches colorful threads into tulle to create 3D-effect artwork. Her creations are inspired by fashion and haute couture, however, things like other people’s success’, life-affirming films, books, and exhibitions support her and her desire to create.
“My technique is a combination of
many shades of threads – organized chaos,” the artist shared on Bored Panda. “I like to work with tulle,
as it is a transparent fabric that makes embroidery visually more voluminous. I
do not make sketches before I start working, I usually know I want to embroider
something specific, such as an eye. I make the contours and select shades when
I’m already in the process.”
In the fall of 2015 she got interested in embroidery, and a couple of months later she attended a sewing course where she had to sew a blouse. Inspired by dresses from Valentino, Elie Saab, Dior, she made a blouse from tulle with embroidery, and that is how her journey began.
