Abysm Internal describes himself as a “global citizen, designer and illustrator” who creates mythological creatures in various styles like gothic, steampunk, pastel, and others. When creating his masterpieces, he uses inspiration from his mixed backgrounds, travel, and love for stories and subcultures.

“I love a good story more than anything, I’m currently on a quest to find and highlight awesome creatures, symbols, and characters from world mythologies and folk stories,” he said in a post on Bored Panda. He also added that he loves urban subcultures because “some deal with feelings, concepts, other revolve around alternate realities of what the world could have been (or will be(?)), and others yet are mostly aesthetic expressions.”

On his Instagram account, you can find dragon towels, anime hoodies, pillows, bedding sets, and more. If you’re into gothic and steampunk, you should definitely check out his social media account or website, where you can order this amazing and creative stuff.

“I have quite a lot of fun combining the two, also I try to make a living out of putting these designs into print and decorating people’s homes and bodies,” he said.

Hej is a design studio from Denmark that’s behind this playful series of safety masks made out of food. Their idea is abstract but the thought behind it was to make face masks that are approachable and pleasant to wear. Currently, we see masks as sterile and necessary, but they can and should be much more fun and that’s what Hej studio wants to show.

“Hej studio is a multidisciplinary design studio all about food and lifestyle. On the menu: bold brand identities, packaging design solutions, graphic design, food photography, and delicious content,” we read on their website.

The studio wondered if there’s a way to create natural face masks, and as a result, they made the masks you can see below. They’ve been working with food for a long time so this was a natural choice for them. After playing with various foods for a while, they did a Corona food portrait photoshoot.

These masks won’t protect you against the virus, but they are a way to see the pandemic from another perspective that may be a bit friendlier. Scroll down to see Hej’s work.

For many of us, autumn is the most beautiful time of the year. It is when Mother Nature throws on the most colorful outfits, and most importantly, it is the perfect time to have an excuse and buy new home decor.

For those who like to follow the trend and decorate their homes and porches but still haven’t had the time to beautify it, no worries, here is some advice from the world-famous Zoella Sugg, aka Zoë on social media, whose second most favorite time of the year is fall.

Each year, Zoë buys loads of orange, white, and green pumpkins in different sizes. However, she says on her Instagram that none of these pumpkins go to waste.

“We use some for soups/pumpkin purée for baking, pass on to friends and family to cook with, decorate at Halloween/pass on to friends, family, and neighbors to carve, feed the birds and wildlife and any that don’t get eaten or given away go in our compost bins ready to be used another time on our garden!”

You will also need some hay bales and maize bundles, which you can purchase on farms. Do not forget the yellow-orange flowers!

With most of us staying at home these days, creating a comfortable living space is more important than ever. And with our kitchens becoming ever more dominant, its time we treat ourselves to some proper utensils.

Kirill Babii’s wooden kitchen utensils have got us dreaming about a cottage in the mountains, a picnic on the beach, and a glorious meal. Based in Ukraine, Babii produces his utensils by hand, with reclaimed materials and economical design at the very heart of his handcrafted homegoods line.

In an interview with the Etsy blog, Babii recounted his initial inspiration for his wooden creations. “On my way home from university one day in 2012, I came across a sycamore branch,” he recalled, somewhat poetically. “I was getting my masters in technical processes and production, but at that very moment I realized I didn’t want to spend my life in factories. I wanted to connect with other human beings and with nature.”

It was then that he began collecting wood from around the city, using it create his woodwork. “It was very inspiring to rebirth dead wood into something with another function,” he says. “I loved the process of creation.”

Nowadays he works almost exclusively with two sorts of wood: walnut wood and apricot tree. “I like them more than others because they are very beautiful,” he writes on his website, “enough strong to serve for many years even in delicate forms, malleable enough to work with it with comfort.”

Art director and designer Santi Zoraidez creates digital illustrations that are unique as they are strange. His creative blend of abstract and surreal concepts makes him a true visionary, with the end result often performing as an imaginative landscape that strikes the viewer.

“I like to see how shapes and objects interact with each other, and how I can use the way that they look to communicate an idea,” explained Zoraidez in an interview with Grafik. “Whether in motion or as still image, this is the way I approach a project.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CEQ2dq2Bnuv/

With almost 70,000 followers and clients like Apple, Nike and Ikea, his colorful explorations have clearly registered with other people. With a passion for interior design and architecture, alongside graphic design and art installations, his work has both an artistic and commercial appeal.

“I always try to mix these different influences within my own work,” he shares. “There is something interesting to me about the compositions I can create and the way that shapes interact with each other, together with a sense of space or volume, and referring mostly to real materials.”

On top of his passion for design, his work also has an element of humor in it that add to an overall sense of quirky surrealism. Show him some love on Instagram.

Alexis Taïeb, aka Tyrsa, knows a thing or two about the written word. A true virtuoso when it comes to typography, his work includes collaborations with the biggest brands in the industry, including Netflix, McDonald’s, Nike, and Apple. Recent works also include collaborations with celebrities like Donald Glover and FKA twigs.

But a long time before his career took off, Taïeb took to the streets. In fact, it was actually his love for graffiti that would eventually blossom into a career in typography. “I started in graffiti and moved into typography, so I brought that street style and energy into my work in a way that seems to connect with people,” he explained in an interview with Creative Bloq.

“But of course, I know that I’m not the only person who’s followed this path. So I think one thing that helps make my work distinctive and different is that it’s underpinned by a proper understanding of the fundamental principles of typography, which I taught myself.”

“My parents were very unhappy with me doing graffiti originally,” says Taïeb, “so every day I feel blessed that I can work as a designer and keep creating cool new things.” After transitioning from graffiti to graphic design he now works exclusively on typography projects, making anything from murals and posters to installations.

If you’re a typography fan, you’d want to take a closer look.

We’d like to invite you to a place that’s bright, positive, and messy. There’s also a lot of pink. We’re talking of course of Laura Blythman’s delightful Instagram page – a place of wonder and creativity. A designer and illustrator, Blythman is said to be driven by a strong passion for color. Her work is a playful collection of dreamt and imagined landscapes, flora, fauna, and magical places.

As such, her aesthetic has garnered her a legion of fans and a super happy portfolio of work with clients ranging from start-up businesses to high profile Australian and International brands. She’s also created quite a buzz online, with more than 65k followers on Instagram to date.

Her creative process involves some collage techniques – mainly cutting, layering and pasting. “When I was young I always loved to cut, paste and layer paper and as a teen I would spend days drawing detailed illustrations of my teen idols,” Blythman’s shared in an interview with Kids Gifts and Toys. “So I guess in some form or another I’ve always been doing exactly what I still do now. Drawing, cutting + pasting, creating, making things.”

“I’m drawn to color because it just makes me so happy, it never fails to lift my mood,” she explained. “When I’m creating new work I decide on a color palette first. Always. At present, I can’t get away from neon pink and peach.”

Now is a good time to self reflect and self care. It is also a good time to cook. And thanks to the power of the internet (and to the resilience of e-commerce websites like Etsy), you can start by upgrading your kitchen, one step at a time.

Designer Tatiana Nedialkova of Softer and Wild is here to help you out. Her home goods line specializes in textiles, selling anything from oven mitts and kitchen towels to aprons. A small but worthy addition to your home, especially when you see so much of it.

A talented pattern designer, Nedialkova’s designs are a mix of Scandinavian aesthetic and Bulgarian folk tales. “I’m Bulgarian originally, but I’ve also lived in Brighton, UK, which is a beautiful town with old architecture,” she explained in an interview with the Etsy blog. “There are amazing decorations and patterns on the houses—circles and ornaments. I translate those into illustrations as well.”

“Something that influenced me from a young age was the drive people had to decorate and personalize their living spaces with found materials, and find beauty in the simplest of objects,” she adds. Here are some of our favorite designs by her:

What happens when you add ingenuity and biology to industrial design? Jan Klingler’s custom lamps could be one possible answer. Made to resemble Petri dishes and test tubes, his lamps showcase samples of bacteria. These samples are swabbed from people, places or things that hold a position of importance, and are grown into a unique piece in the form of commissioned work.

According to Klingler, when producing a piece for commissioned work, the customer is very much involved in this process, choosing the colors that grow and the bacteria swabbed. “The possibilities are as individual as each one of us,” he writes on his website, noting that you can swab anything from the location of a first date, a personal souvenir from a memorable journey, or the remainder of loved one far away.

After a growth period of 24 to 48 hours, the microorganisms are fully sealed within resin to stop the growth and to preserve them for eternity. An LED light source incorporated into a custom silicone plug highlights the visual quality of the growth pattern and colors from above or below.

“We all consist of 10 times more bacteria than human cells,” reads his website. “Every living being and place has its own unique and personal microbiological fingerprint. In a crossover between science, art, and industrial design, the bacteria lamp uses this fact to create stand out conversational pieces.”

With our lives dictated these days by the spread of viruses and bacteria, Klingler’s lamps take on a whole other meaning. Take a look for yourself:

Jean-Luc Godard has a way around wood and metal. With a background in furniture design and custom sign making, Godard is keen on working with raw materials, from which he forms distinct, naturalistic sculptures that make for wonderful statement pieces. But it’s his unique lamps (or rather, sculptural lighting), that first caught our attention.

Using organic designs that remind of the shapes and forms found in nature, his sculptural lightings seem like an extension – or response – to our natural surroundings. “I pride myself on having a keen eye for choosing the perfect materials,” writes Godard on his website, “those with beautiful natural curves and unique grain to the wood, which make my pieces unique and which define my work as that of a naturalist.”

“While others may develop one style and reproduce countless versions of it, for me, the creative process is a journey that takes you to places limited only by your imagination,” he adds. As such, his work isn’t confined to one specific style or theme.

Originally from France, Godard moved to the United States in 1989 and now resides in Connecticut. With his cozy studio situated at the edge of nature preserve in the rolling foothills of the Berkshires, and overlooking a meadow in full bloom, Godard’s sculptures blend nicely with their surroundings.

Step right in!
