Take a Look at the Mesmerizing View of Frozen Lake Michigan

Spring is finally here and it’s bringing warmer days for us to enjoy. But some traces of winter are not so easily erased and now we can watch amazing creations of Mother Nature that never ceases to amaze us.

Lake Michigan in Chicago has been frozen and covered with thick ice shards for the most part of winter. The winters in Chicago are known to be very cold and this year temperatures reached -30C (-23F) during the coldest days.

This week, however, warmer weather and higher temperatures caused the ice to break apart and melt – creating the most mesmerizing view you can imagine. Frozen lake is now being shattered into a million pieces and ice shards are piling up along the coast, creating some amazing patterns.

People are posting photos of this beautiful phenomenon on social media, but the authorities are warning the visitors to be careful.

“No ice is safe ice, especially this time of year”, warned the US Coast Guard, Chief Grant Heffner in an interview to Michigan’s local n. “The ice is certainly deteriorating and breaking up.”
