Aude Bourgine is a French visual artist who wants to raise awareness of the impact of our actions on the environment through her art.

“If we do not change our relationship with the environment quickly the oceans will be irremediably altered and many species will have disappeared by 2050  causing a real disaster both ecologically, climate and humanity,” Bourgine said in a statement on her website.

In her series, called “Poumons des océans”–which translates to “Lungs of the Oceans,” she features the beauty and fragility of corals. She used textiles, beads, and sequins to emulate the unique forms and vibrant colors of living corals. Bourgine’s sculptures are encased in glass bell jars, protected from harm caused by the hands of humans.
