These Food Creations are Too Cute to be Eaten

Have you ever looked at food and thought it looked so amazing that it would be a shame to eat it? Well, every food creation from food artist Tomoko Shibata is like that.

Based in Nagoya, Japan, Shibata cooks up all sorts of eye-pleasing meals, snacks, sandwiches, and pastries. Inspired by anime, cartoons, and holiday seasons, she arranges veggies, fruits, and dough into cute characters. This includes Pokémon rolls, Totoro sweet pops, onigiri rice ghosts , and an array of adorable animals.

According to Shibata, despite the fact that her food creations are works of art, they are still made with the intention of being eaten, considering they don’t use any unnatural coloring. As soon as she snaps the perfect photo, the food is
