There’s a unique furniture installation in Seoul, South Korea, that’s getting global attention because of its root-like shape that spreads organically through a public park.
The project called Root Bench is a winning proposal by Yong Ju Lee that was installed in Hangang Park. It provides space for rest and relaxation and comes in three different heights to accommodate children and adult seatings, and tables for picnics and gatherings. The project is formed from conjoined slats of wood attached to a metal frame and sprawls from the center, creating a spatial connectivity. The Root Bench is blended into the grass, concealing the border between artificial installation and natural surroundings.
