A recent viral TikTok video shows that humans aren’t the only species on Earth that appreciates the comfort and stylishness of sunglasses. Orangutans apparently love sunglasses as well. And they know how to wear them.
TikTok user @minorcrimes recently visited one Indonesian zoo and was observing a group of orangutans in their enclosure. Wanting to get a better look, she got too close to the fence and ended up dropping her sunglasses.
Seeing that the sunglasses entered his space, one orangutan decided to check them out. At this point, the TikToker was afraid he might eat them and tried to discourage him from doing that. But the primate had another idea.
After giving the sunglasses a closer inspection, the orangutan decided to put them on. He then returned to the spot and spent some time enjoying how fashionable he looked. He continued wearing them for a while before getting bored and tossing them back to their original owner.
Luckily for us, @minorcrimes had the camera rolling and managed to capture the entire thing. She uploaded the video on TikTok, and the clip immediately went viral, with social media users loving the way orangutan knew what to do with the sunglasses. The video managed to get more than 11 million likes in less than a week since it was shared. Check it out below.
