A New Drink Called “Milk Coke” is Sparkling a Debate On Social Media

So what happens when you mix Coca-Cola and milk? According to Science.WonderHowTo.com, the reaction of phosphoric acid contained in coca cola with calcium contained in milk gives rise to a precipitate.

“Phosphoric Acid molecules attach to the milk, giving them more density and separate out while the remaining liquid that makes up the milk and cocoa cola now being lighter floats on top. The solid matter is basically milk that has been curdled by the addition of the more acidic soda.”

When milk is added to a bottle of Coke, the liquid in the bottle appears to become clear after an hour, creating an “invisible soda.”

Recently, Comedy writer James Felton tweeted about his love of “Milk Coke” and it sparked a debate on social media. He shared a photo of himself drinking the infamous drink, writing, “Milk coke is a real thing. Brummies love it. We can all move on from this discussion now, I will be taking no further questions.” His comment caused a huge backlash with thousands of comments on his Twitter account.
