Artist Creates Intricate Metal Root Sculptures That Depict Human Figures

Sun-Hyuk Kim is a talented Korean artist who creates metallic sculptures that are part humanoid and part plant root systems.

“My art is a tool to discover the truth and remind myself [and] viewers through various media,” Sun-Hyuk told Colossal. The branch-like metal blood vessels form the outline of heads, abdomens, and limbs and trees that seems to have grown from them. His artworks are meant to show the imperfections of our existence in relation to Mother Nature. The sculptures are usually dramatic interpretations of the human experience.

The artist has an upcoming solo exhibition at the Suhadam Art Space in South Korea from June 7 until August 5, 2019.
