Austrian Family Travels the World in an Old Military Truck

Leander Nardin got sick of busy everyday life, so he and his family decided to travel around the world. They sold all their belongings, converted an old military truck into their new home and went on a journey around the world.

“Sick of the daily rat race and busy western world, we wanted to have much more time together with our son, educate and show him the beauty, diversity, and fragility of our planet and decided to hit the road for an undefined time,” Nardin says. “Traveling this way can be extremely exhausting and annoying, but… it can also be so rewarding with impressions, landscapes and people you only see and meet this way of life!”

They have been on the road for two years now, and since then they have driven through 24 countries.

Altough Lennox would not need to go to school yet, „our school“ already started about a year ago. After he already can read fluently and his writing is also not that bad, we always try to educate him about the surroundings and environment we are in. Right now it´s all about the ocean. Water, currents, fish, corals, reefs, diving, surfing,… Beside reading books and watching documentaries, „our school“ is mostly based on real experiences out in nature where he can see and feel all of it and gains a much better understanding than in a class room. But that also means that we are challenged to learn daily new things which we can pass on to him. But to be honest this is a nice side effect and it is amazing to see him how he behaves in his element.
